Did my medicals and paid RPRF almost 5 months ago but still no updates. Looks like they still haven't started my application yet.

My friend he is Dec applicant, his file was recieved on dec 16th he got in process last week.

Ok I am a DEC applicant. I have always used this site to understand the time that my application might take. This forum has helped me a lot. Thank the Lord God Jesus for this forum And i want to share my timeline. I think my timeline may help others understand theirs.
AINP AWE 2013

1. File received - Dec 23,2013
2. Medical request + file number - Jan 30,2014
3. Medicals done - Feb 14, 2014
4. RPRF request (which was already paid with application) - May 15
5. In process - Sept 1,2014
6. Decision made - Sept 26,2014
7. Passport Request - Sept 26,2014 (this email was hidden in my inbox, this was not in spam, inbox, trash, personal nowhere, so those who are expecting CIC corresp. soon please type CIC in your email searchbox and you may be surprised)
8. Sent out passport - Sept 29, 2014
9. Awaiting return of passport from CIC.

This might be a really stupid question, but why do they need your passport as once you are accepted you get a residency card?

Is it possible that you can get ppr request without your status being updated after medical received?Just wondering since my status has not being updated to in process even after paying rprf and sending pc.
