They will contact the person/ people on your experience letter, and do their own open source searches first. They’ll only ask you for extra documentation if they aren’t satisfied with whoever they speak to, or are not able to reach them.

You simply provide the work experience letter in the format IRCC asked for. They'll do the verification on their end. if they need additional docs from you, they'll contact you to ask specifically.

They can, and do call Canadian employers. Even if they are extremely well known companies. I've seen it happen. The decision to do so is always, at the discretion of the analyst or officer assessing an application.

Security involves a lot of different checks that don’t always show up on GCMS by design. It is literally the way the system has operated almost since inception.

Your GCMS notes should show if you are in comprehensive security screening. That said, Security could be initiated in the background, but not manually updated in the GCMS system until much later.
