    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Well my husband landed yesterday at Pacific Crossing in Surrey, took 15 minutes. It's nice to be done, all we have to do now is import his car. Which is a little concerning, because we have gotten several DIFFERENT answers from several different immigration and border officers about how to go...

So, we got the husbands passport back last week... He has until Feb to land, but we'll do it sooner.. Just curious, is there supposed to be a form included with it to put the stuff that he's bringing with him to Canada? Not that he's really bringing anything of importance, but I assume we have...

    Who goes where?

If you apply Outland to come to Canada, it shouldn't take years, all though every application seems to be processed differently, but for example our outland application has taken 8 months from start to finish, we're just waiting for his passport to come back others have gotten their approval...

Girlfriend will be in Canada for 5 years, I would like to join

I'm pretty sure if you're common law she can apply to bring you with her and you can get an open work permit for the duration of her study permit. I think you're supposed to include it in the initial student visa application.. Not sure how it works if she all ready has the study permit though.

Same here ours was received on the 26th. We were supposed to go away to Portland this weekend and still no sign of the passport being returned so not vacation for us. I assume it doesn't get activated though until the consulate sends it back.

    Dear Canada

When we got my husbands passport request I was like "oh yay! Finally almost done! So exciting" and he was like "ok. So I can get a job now? cool." Pretty underwhelmed. haha. Good Mexican food is damn near impossible to find up here. We drive to the states because we're really close to the border...

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

When my MP looked into our file she didn't mention that our file had been transferred to LA which makes me wonder how much they can actually see, or at least how hard she actually looked into things, we didn't know until we got the PPR request from LA. We only got our PPR about 2 weeks after she...

    Dear Canada

hahaha My California born and raised husband's letter would be very similar. He really does NOT like living here, its been quite an adjustment for him. He hates the food and the weather, and we live in Vancouver, which is the mildest city. I can only imagine how miserable he would be if I lived...

We got a decision made update on our E-cas this morning... I'm hoping this means they stapled the visa to his passport and it will be on its way home today, so we can go party in Portland next weekend. :) Though I'm sure in reality it just means someone decided to do some mass e-cas updating.

They definitely only gave us 15 days. It was printed in bold in the letter about 3 times. lol I was surprised because I thought it would be more.

    Thread for March 2011 Applicants!

LA got our passport yesterday morning... SO Hopefully not much longer now! I find it funny that different visa offices have different procedures, like I thought that all the passports were supposed to go to Ft. Erie, but our letter specifically said send it to the office in LA. ANd then also...

Speaking as someone who collects fees with payment deadlines from people as part of my job, I wouldn't panic yet. Just act on it immediately now that you realized the problem.

My husband has been in Canada since September 2009. Our gcms notes had an RCMP check in them that they did themselves, they never asked us to get it done ourselves.

Not PR yet, but already in Canada, anybody?

My husband has been in Canada on a student visa since September 2010.. But over the 3 months over the summer when he wasn't in school was a little depressing for him because he felt like he wasn't contributing at all. But I think its definitely easier to be together, it was a strain financially...

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

That's pretty much how it went with my MP as well. She said that we were on track to get ours in March 2012, and that I probably misunderstood the people that I claimed had all ready been approved because it was very unlikely for files to be done before 11 months. (Essentially said people were...

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

I don't think you need to get them ahead of time, they gave us 15 days from the date of the letter to get it to them. We got the letter last Monday, got the photos done over the weekend and its being couriered today, so there's plenty of time to get it all together when you get your ppr. They...
