    Postponed hearings timelines

I’m not going to keep doing this back and forth. There are people who waited five years, five years in Canada to have their claims heard. There are border crossers in the US who have their families separated from them, literally children being locked up, and whose parents aren’t being allowed to...

    Postponed hearings timelines

It’s not easy for me to say what I said above to another person who is going through something similar that I went through. I paid for every process from my legal costs down to every other thing, I had a bit of contempt coz I felt like other people were getting handouts while I was working hard...

I wasn’t going to say anything but I feel like I should. As frustrating as it is for you waiting for a hearing date, you also have to remember that a lot of people here passed through something similar, having said that your posts have a lot of contempt for a country you hope accepts you as a...

What’s next after a denied of leave

It sounds to me like you’re suggesting he goes into a marriage of convenience to stop any removal. Not only is that extremely careless/ fraudulent, but it also does not stop CBSA from removing him.

    Story

It’s people like you that make claiming asylum more difficult for genuine refugees with well founded fear. The board members are well trained to see through some of the most ridiculous stories if you must know. If you don’t have a genuine reason for claiming asylum, migrate through the economic...

Why does it have to be this way?

Exactly what a racist would say. How can you categorize an entire group of people and term them “uncivilized?” Refugees or not? Did you read anywhere in that article where it says that all the refugee claimants living there contributed to the disturbance? No only a handful, and if I were a guest...

    Postponed hearings timelines

Some countries have an advantage over others because of the acceptance rate generally, hence the reason why some countries have a faster hearing time than others. I’m not sure being African alone dampens your chances, each claim is scrutinized on a case by case basis, country conditions...

    Postponed hearings timelines

The funny thing is, I wasn’t asked why it took a year and half, but it was my biggest fear that I would be asked. He told me he could understand why because I gave a detailed explanation in my BOC, and when he gave his reasons for acceptance he mentioned my waiting to file a claim as being under...

It is possible they are prioritizing people crossing over by foot, but I cannot really say as that is not the case for me, I had been in Canada for a year and half prior to my claiming for protection, so I can most certainly, confidently say I did not cross by foot, I came here by plane :)

I'm just here to encourage everyone to keep up the faith. Its a process that affects you both mentally and physically, but if you stand by your claim and are credible, and also provide strong supporting evidence, those factors could help bolster your claim.

Please help. what is the current wait time for asylum cases

I understand, it was 11 months and a few days actually which I rounded off to 12 (so 11 or 12, i'm not exactly pressed on getting the exact time right), I also see how that might be confusing to most. I know it's not the norm but I was speaking about my own personal experience. I expected it...

Thank you, Yeah some places have faster hearings than others. It's a gut wrenching process, but in the end you forget all the time it took.

Can u apply for asylum in Canada if your asylum is denied in USA

Montee99, I would strongly advise you do not file a refugee claim if you don't have strong evidence to your claims. The refusal rate for Nigeria is really high as most of these claimants fail to discharge a burden of proof. You don't have to take my word for it, just my two cents.

Hey SAMER MAHER, I have been reading your post since 2017, I waited one year to get a hearing date in Winnipeg, and my claim was approved today when everyone told me it was impossible, The entire hearing took less than an hour for me. I hope things go well for you and every other person awaiting...
