Status tracking doesn't become available immediately. It can take upto 10 days for application status to show on BLS and another week after that to show up on consulates website.

That is good to know. Unfortunately, these guys at BLS/Consulate can reject an application for any reason whatsoever. It is better that others follow the instructions to the dot. I had called BLS and the agent told me the docs have to be self-attested before uploading. I suggest others do the same.

It took 14 days after mailing for my application to show on BLS website.

I just spoke to BLS on the phone. The agent told me the OCI checklist is not mandatory to be sent for TORONTO jurisdiction. My file was approved by BLS (without the checklist) and they forwarded the same to CGI-Toronto for processing.

I applied in Toronto Jurisdiction and Toronto did not require us to send any originals.

I must've called the BLS 5-6 times for various questions and no one mentioned about including the checklist in the application. I did not include the checklist in my application package.

I applied for my minor son born in Canada. Not for my wife and I. So there weren't any surrendered passports to be sent. Purolator takes care of return labels. Only label BLS sent me after payment was the shipping label for the application package going out.

OCI photo requirement is different than passport. Please review the requirement before. Also just remember to take a digital copy of the photo as well to upload. All the best.
