From Edmonton where did you go to flagpole

Hi Mandy, First off congratulations! You must be relieved and excited! I went to Coutts for all kind of immigration related purposes in the last 3 years, obtaining work permits mainly. I had a good experience with them at all times. There are other port of entries on the Alberta-US border, but...

Pregnant, no insurance, no status yet - what to do?

The OP stated that she is living in Alberta. Her husband`s health coverage or any private or supplemental insurance won`t cover her pregnancy. Her prescription medication maybe but not medical procedures as destanova just said. The simple reason why travel insurances will never cover pregnancy...

Pregnant, no insurance, no status yet - what to do?

■If you move to Alberta from outside Canada your coverage begins on your date of arrival in Alberta. This is the exact quote from the AHCIP website. IF you move from OUTSIDE Canada you are covered from the very first day. IF you get your PR and you LAND, it doesn`t matter whether you lived in...

Pregnant, no insurance, no status yet - what to do?

In Alberta there is no waiting period, once your PR is granted and you land you can obtain your health card with your landing documents. That is one positive thing, but you have a slim chance to have your PR before the delivery. Maybe if you get 1st and 2nd stage approval at the same time which...

Pregnant, no insurance, no status yet - what to do?

Blue Cross does not cover you unless you have your permanent status, they do have insurance for travellers but that does not cover any pregnancy related costs. Some people could obtain Alberta Health Card if they were admitted as a visitor for at least 6 months. However as you stated you have no...

I NEED TO LIVE MY LIFE NOT MATTER VO PROCESS!!! can we? HELP!!

This process is hard on everybody, however I don`t think that the visa offices cathegorize people as `bad people` or `good people`, no matter what their race or background is. They are doing their job and it is your job to prove your marriage. If you are done with the medical part, you can try...

Inland app for OWP sent after PR app

It could be a great thing if they allow again to add the OWPs. I know in the past it was allowed, and honestly I think it still should be as there is nearly no information on the CIC website which even mention OWP regarding inland PR process. Wish you good luck with it and I hope it is going to...

Inland app for OWP sent after PR app

First off, your OWP application will most likely be rejected. It is because immigration do not match up work permits and PR applications in process. I never heard of anyone having luck with the OWP attached to their application. You are not in a bad situation, your application should get to 1st...

open work permit and sponsorship application

Open work permit is only available if you apply inland. You didn`t specify that you apply outland. In this case you cannot submit an OWP, you must wait until you are granted permanent residence to be able to work. The rules are different for outland and inland process. I assume you apply through...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2010

Hi, It is depending on how complicated the case is, the country of origin of the applicant and god knows what else- maybe luck. I was approved for both stages at the same time in May and thinking back our case was simple simple: first marriage for both of us or even living with someone, I was...

open work permit and sponsorship application

The open work permit should be submitted TOGETHER with the initial application package. Any later application may not be attached to the PR application so CIC does not recommend to do so. If it is not submitted at the same time you need to wait until the 1st stage approval and apply after you...

    Inland application

Hi Frank, You do not necessarily have to live together before you get married. You will apply as a married couple and the marriage is the ground of the application. However you need to explain why you did not cohabit earlier and how did you maintain your relationship up to the marriage. I was...

True love or marriage fraud? on CBC

There were already a couple of discussions on this forum about the `passionate eye` documentary. I watched it not just once but a few times and found quite informative even though I feel like it was tailored to the Canadian viewers a little bit. I agree with you Love_Young, thumbs up for...

HELP! I sponsored my common law wife has left me, what am I in for?

You need to evaluate the situation before you decide what are you going to do. 1. You have the right to withdraw the sponsorship up to her landing anytime. If you withdraw she will loose her open work permit and her job as well as the her current status in Canada. If she wants to stay in the...

    Inland GED

You don`t need a study permit, unless you take a course which is longer than 6 months. There is GED preparation at the college I went to and it is only 4 month, but the length may vary from one institute to another. Before you apply for the study permit check with the school how long does it take.

    from edmonton....

By mail, but there was a good 3 weeks between the letter and the landing appointment, so even if you are on vacation right now you should not be so stressed about it, unless you are away for more than 3 weeks I would say. Is there anyone who could check your mail- family members, friends...
