My sister became a PR in July 2012. But, she stayed outside Canada from July 2012 - May 2014. Since June 2014, she has been staying in Canada. She is now planning to apply for citizenship. She did not file the Income taxes for 2012 and 2013. Was she required to file them?

Thanks guys. Since the coordinator at my university is a jerk, I have decided to involve an immigration lawyer. Hopefully, she'll be able to help me out. Will keep you updated. Also, I wanted to get over with this fast as I need to submit my citizenship certificate by Dec 15.

A little bit off the topic. My PR expired in August and I haven't received my citizenship yet. Does that make me an international student ?

It would've been fine if I had been waiting for the test date or the from In Process to DM, but I'm stuck on DM since 3 months. And the people at the test centre told that we should receive oath ceremony between August and October. This is what is making me impatient

I was lucky at this point. I have a couple of Arabic stamps too, and my officer told me that they might ask for a translation. They never did.

I called them up today. According to them, if you haven't received your letter yet, it is very unlikely that you'll get the August date for the oath.

The office received my application on Jan 19 and sent the acknowledging receipt on Feb 1. They started processing on Feb 10. Sent me the letter of test invite on June 5 and I wrote the test on Jun 30. The local office is Victoria. Status changed to Decision Made on July 20. Waiting for oath letter.

Cool. Congrats! I called up CIC today and they told me that my application has gone through and are waiting to schedule my ceremony. So, I guess one should be arriving shortly

Just checked online it says decision made. My officer told me to wait as I had some Arabic stamps on my passport as I had visited middle east few years back. Waiting for the letter
