    Thread for September 2010 Applicants

Hi Everyone! My wife landed in Toronto on July 28 (we bumped things up once everything was cleared to go) and we took a mini vacation. Took 40 minutes from landing to grab bags and get out of customs! They were very courteous and were very surprised we had all our paperwork in...

Well my father is/was iranian...but he left my mother before I was born and we never heard from him. So I guess by birthright Iran recognizes me as an iranian but I do not hold any citizenship. So when I travel to iran I travel on Canadian documentaion with visa issued from Iranian...

No offense intended. I just kept reading your posts and your "reasoning" just didn't make sense, as I have no connections, and overstayed not once but multiple times and had no issues with getting an exemption. Of course, it may be oversight on my part for assuming that what you type is what...

I love how you have all these connections but yet seem to have the most difficulties...honestly baradar, no one overstayed longer than me! When I went in to get my Iranian citizenship paperwork they told me be careful don't overstay. Or you will have mashmool problem. In those countries laws...

Well the update I have is that my wife will be landing August 1st! Tickets are booked and barring any delays this ticket will be confirmed shortly. I cannot even begin to express how happy I am that internet video chats will be replaced with hand in hand walks during the evenings by the beach!

Are you a student? Why don't you contact sefarat in Ottawa and ask them to give you a temporary mashmool mohr. It's only good for 1 trip and it is valid for 2 months in Iran...I had a regular mashmool as a student but since I was in Iran already 2 times in 1 year, I asked for an exemption. I...

PPR PPR PPR!!! Finally the long wait is over! Question for everyone, they have requested to updated passport photos with her passport. For Iranians, do the photos have to be without Hijab? I don't think it will hurt, and what are they being used for?

Proof of relationship-photos: only wedding photos enough?

I think the immigration and visa office people are more credible than this. They work in world regions not for ease of work per say but also to understand cultural things. For example, although my wife and I had been dating by western standards for 2 years, we don't have much photos of this...

This is interesting! We listed both our emails and sometimes VO contacts my wife, and sometimes me via email. Never do they send us both the same emails though. I am counting the moments until PPR comes, regardless of which email it is sent to!

Sorry, maybe I should have been clear, I am not Iranian, I do not hold Iranian citizenship and was born in Canada (3rd generation Canadian). My wife is Iranian who I met while studying in Canada (my ancestry is European) Also, I think oppression is bad, however playing with a persons heart is...

Im not sure what you are talking about. Nothing about the process changes, however you and your spouse have to live together for 2 years and prove it (e.g., mortgage, bills, etc.) before you can apply for citizenship. Therefore those people who commit marriage fraud will now be deterred...

If they stick to their platform of conditional PR and weed out immigration fraud, it may actually speed up legitimate immigration applicants wait times. It probably wont effect any of us on this forum as of right now, but new legislation should improve things for future couples!

    Elections Canada

I believe the conservatives will continue the same platform that keeps them popular with the cowboy crowd in the west and dooms them with the liberalists in the east. The NDP scare me. I remember how the NDP back in the days of Bob Rae screwed Ontario over, to the point they could never ever...
