Hello everyone! What other countries may we visit with a Canadian visa that would otherwise require a separate visa for that country? For example: If I am from a country that normally requires a visa to enter Japan, may I enter Japan with a valid Canadian visa? (I've heard this is the case?)...

We've considered that, but our position is a little 'special', as we currently live in a country with very stringent wire transfer rules (where neither of us are citizens), and slightly more relaxed rules about carrying physical money. Anyhow, thanks for all the help, everyone!

Got it. So getting it in isn't the issue, it's more about providing proof when you set up a bank account. What kind of paperwork is required by the banks? What if it's a (generous) wedding gift?

My situation's a little different from yours, but I'll share it with you for reference. My wife (Vietnamese) and I (Canadian) are both (temporary) residents of China, and we're in the middle of the PR process. From what I can tell, it hasn't negatively affected our application -- but then again...

Yes and yes. If you're already in the system, things are already rolling, I'd also advise not to withdraw. I certainly didn't withdraw and PR app already has the 'third line'. I'd like to think that the cic sees these types of errors fairly often. I'll post if we get any progress.
