Nope - not mandatory. Should come in about 2 months. If not, you can contact CIC. Some of us are just control freaks who need to know exactly what is going on (or at least as much as we possibly can)

Hi Guys, I landed in Calgary on Dec 2. Linked my application online late December. Application approved Jan 18. Anyone have any guesses on when the card will arrive? Also, when I landed I talked to the officer and evidently the not being able to renter without the PR card is less of an issue...

Thats what mine was like. I didn't have any issue linking mine though I waited 10 days before I tried.

Yep - you can link it online. Go into your myCIC account, what would you like to do today, link paper application, permanent resident card, then enter you info. I did my landing Dec 2 and am hoping to get my card in time for a work trip in February (fingers crossed)

I had no updates for more than a month after I uploaded my ADR.

So, I applied for my BOWP and got my passport request for my PR about an 1hr later. Sigh, but at least everything is in process. Passport copy sent yesterday. Should arrive in Ottawa tomorrow!

Mine was approved Friday, showed up in today's mail.

I applied online Oct 21. Closed WP, same employer, LIMA exempt. Received the new permit in the mail today.

Now it updated and I got the PDF letter saying its been approved. Now just have to wait for the hard copy. As long as I have the hard copy before March 8, all is golden. For the record - online, closed work permit, LIMA exempt, no medical required, submitted Oct 21, approved Feb 5.

Has anyone seen it when you get the email saying the status update, and on the first page it says "approved" but you click on it and it still says open?
