Failing physical presence test for FEIE

Hi all - I'm a US citizen, Canadian PR and filing for the first time since moving here. I did not know about the physical presence test for claiming the foreign earned income exclusion. In 2017 I was in the US for work for 3 months, then did several 1 - 2 week trips since then. The way the...

    BC Vehicle Import Tax Question

Hey everyone - My husband and I landed in Vancouver earlier this year. We imported our vehicle and paid both provincial and federal taxes at the border. When we went to ICBC to insure the vehicle (after it got inspected at Canadian Tire) they told us we had to pay provincial tax again, and that...

Has anyone applied for co-op housing in Vancouver?

Actually, most co-ops don't offer subsidies right now - apparently the funding has decreased, and many have a high cost to "buy in" at first. Not sure what exactly they get in terms of government support, but it sounds pretty minimal and as though most of the lower costs of coops (which is not...

Has anyone applied for co-op housing in Vancouver?

Thanks for the reply foodie69. I've done a lot of research into them already, and have started filling out applications. Just wondering how it looks if you apply from out of country. For example, the questions about income I can answer based on what we're doing here in the US, but neither of us...

Has anyone applied for co-op housing in Vancouver?

Hey everyone - So, I have my PR card, and we are set to move (from the US) to Vancouver. Planning on arriving in Vancouver in early December. My spouse (dual Citizen) grew up in a co-op in Vancouver, and we've been looking into co-ops as places to live. Has anyone applied to a co-op before...

At any rate, glad the process is over, and hopefully the folks who are still waiting will get some answers soon.

MARCH 2016 - OUTLAND SPOUSAL APPLICANTS

Finally got my FBI Police Clearance! The email I got from CIC requesting documents said to email it to them, so just sent that off and crossing fingers that the scanned images are good enough. Also, I just have to say that this forum is amazing. I don't post very often, except for updates, but...

US Police Clearance: FBI Processing Times

Oh man!! That is irritating!! I've had lots of issues with the payment forms, this would have been much easier! I wonder if CIC changed their minds because so many of us are waiting on FBI checks and it's backing things up...

US Police Clearance: FBI Processing Times

So, at this point I don't even remember when I sent my prints (I think early February), but I've had issues with the payment form - had to resubmit it twice. Most recent payment form was received May 4th and they told me my prints would get bumped to the back of the line. Well, yesterday they...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Thanks for the reply! I'll get in touch with CIC today and explain the situation to them, hopefully they will be as understanding as they were in your case. Cheers!

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Hey gang! So, I just found out that my FBI request has been pushed to the back of the line because my card was declined. They received my new payment information May 4th, so my application for identity check has been moved back to that date (even though I sent my prints in February). On May...

US Police Clearance: FBI Processing Times

So just got an email from CIC asking for my FBI report. I sent in my fingerprints in early February, but had to resubmit payment information last week. The FBI said it could delay processing time - anyone know about that? Hopefully I'll get my report within the 90 day window!!

Yep, that's exactly what I did today. They did say it may delay the processing time though. I'll just have to wait and see.

US Police Clearance: FBI Processing Times

They just tried to charge my card but ran into a problem. I did my fingerprints on January 7th, mailed soon after that (don't remember exact date) so looks like they are starting to process January fingerprints. I emailed liaison@leo.gov to see where to send my new payment information.

MARCH 2016 - OUTLAND SPOUSAL APPLICANTS

That worked for me - I was using the UCI to try and log in with both my and my sponsor's information. Using the application number and my information did the trick. Thanks for the tip!
