This is normal. My son's status also still shows In Progress though we've received the Oath letter for everyone. The status will remain In Progress for minors until we receive the Citizenship Cert after Oath and the case is closed.

Citizenship Certificate is not a travel document. You need to get your passport to apply for any visa.

Just originals are enough. However, you can make a color copy of all the pages of your passport, in case the officer needs it for further verification. Also if you have non-English/French stamps in your passport get a translation of those stamps. Also take all your expired passports too. Good Luck!
