Help with filing part-year resident tax

Hi good people, I left Canada mid-year to work in US, wife joined a bit late in the year. No house in Canada, but wife in health leave (employer in Canada and all worldwide income from Canada alone and not working in USA). I will be filing US tax as a resident and hence am filing joint return...

Successful citizenship experience: moved abroad after applying

First of, given timelines in Mississauga, I wouldn't think her application took long. Sometime they invite for test early and make you wait for oath. Sometimes they pack everything close by, as in her case. 10 months processing is normal time for Mississauga applicants. Second, she was in Canada...

Successful citizenship experience: moved abroad after applying

She had 12 days for test and 16 days for oath after the invitation email came through. Very unlikely that they will accommodate that request. She had limited (not impossible though) travel abilities due to health reasons, so we had requested for the same. But, was not accommodated. She had to...

Successful citizenship experience: moved abroad after applying

Everything via email. Sorry, I wouldn't know that. You can try and see it yourself or seek a legal counsel. Yes, they did ask if the move was temporary or permanent. And, how long I was living abroad.

Successful citizenship experience: moved abroad after applying

Nope. They asked it during passport application though. Within a month. She is in May tracker, you can check her detail dates there. I don't think she got the email confirmation. We only found out when checking the ecas.

Hi all, When I was looking for some information on similar cases, I didn't find much. So, posting here hoping it will be helpful for some. My partner applied for Canadian citizenship while still in Canada. But, had to move out of country due to health reasons. Her application was 'in process'...

Application from outside Canada: Near the end of my process

An update for all. We kept our non-Canadian (US) mailing address and we received all notifications (for test and oath) via email. Maybe US is an exception, but in our case, they did find a way to communicate with us even if our mailing address is outside of Canada.

    May 2018 - Citizenship Applicants

Got the oath invite yesterday for March 15. Impressed how quick this is being processed after a hiatus of 8 months since 'in process'.

    May 2018 - Citizenship Applicants

Did the test yesterday at Mississauga. Was told that the test session with 120 applicants was the largest crowd ever. Also, the interviewer told me that they are organizing big test sessions for next 4 weeks straight. So, guessing Mississauga applicants can hope to get test invites sooner than...

Thanks for confirming! Good to know :) No idea about processing location though. Never called to find out, and just checked, it is not mentioned in IRCC's email communications.

Application from outside Canada: Near the end of my process

We only changed her mailing address to the current foreign address. As a matter of fact, she is still a resident of Canada and is only abroad temporarily for personal health reasons. This temporary stay will be a bit long, hence we decided to change the mailing address so we could receive...

Application from outside Canada: Near the end of my process

Hi, My partner had to move out of Canada after applying for Citizenship. The application is in process since June 2018. I was wondering if they stack up the test and oath dates close by so the international travel can be minimized and she can fly back with her Canadian passport on the same...

    October 11th 2017 - Citizenship Applicants under 3/5 rule

Wrote my test today @mississauga. In & out in an hour. If you read the book thoroughly, no reason why anyone cannot ace it. The interview process lasted for about 3-5 minutes. It was very straight forward - signed a form, showed my IDs (PR, driving license and Health card). And was told that...
