Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

We were fully prepared to forget about the app for 10 months and sit and let it grind its way through the system. I don't know if we just got lucky and landed in the 20% that allegedly gets COPR within 7 months. The only thing I can think of that could have helped speed it up was my wife already...

Well we got an answer from Manila. They've asked us to send the pictures to the embassy in Manila. None of this was mentioned in the original request. No wonder so many of these applications take forever to get done.

I just tried this number (in Canada) and it's correct. Make sure you're dialing out correctly. You might need to dial something like +1-1-888-242-2100

Where did you see that info about the sponsor filling in the spouse column? For us it appears to be near the end of the process. It was part of the letter that requested these few things via e-mail scan before they'd give the final COPR. Was there no mention of COPR in your e-mail?

I think it's actually like the original application. You don't need to put yourself down if you're the sponsor. You're not applying for residency. Of course I'm not 100% confident but it seems just like the original.

Just got an e-mail this morning. They processed my wife's app in Mississauga... Your Confirmation of Permanent Residence Form(s) to Canada is/are ready to be issued, conditional to a final admissibility review by an immigration officer. They're asking for another copy of her passport info...

I'd refer to this as the safest option.. Any document that is not in English or French must be accompaniedby: the English or French translation; and an affidavit from the person who completed the translation; and a certified copy of the original document. Perhaps it's overkill for the utility...

If it's the same one they ask for on the CIC record check page, you print it in colour and it has the electronic red seal stamp near the bottom you should probably be OK. My wife just got out of the police station with a fresh one in colour that certainly looks more 'original' than the original...

Yes, so they did reply. For future reference for anyone... "Please be advised that we require a Police Certificate bearing an original stamp, issued by the South Korean Authorities." Her record check has a traditional Korean stamp near the bottom but it's in black and white not the usual red...

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

We used my Gmail account for all applications. Seems that the issue with the wife's Korean police cert. might be that it was printed in black and white and might look like a photocopy to CIC. Apparently another person posted the same issue on a Naver cafe forum and had to get it printed in...

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

The police check is dated Feb.9 and they received it Feb.24 We didn't send a translation because the check has its own English translation on it...or is that not good enough for CIC? My wife is still in Korea so she can get another pretty quickly and get it translated if needed.
