    We both went to border and flagpoled. It may depend what country you are from I believe. We are both from uk and have both been living in Canada since August 2013. Partner on tourist visa while I have been on iec visa.

    I would say at least 5-6 months. 23 weeks for me. Only if you applied through the healthcare stream might it be approved quicker.

    File number is high 2000s Work permit expires Oct 8th so requested support letter by email when returning requested docs. Think application would have been approved on or around 16th Sept if Employer had signed job offer form in first place but they said they didn't have too. Took quite a lot...

    Hi does anyone know what is required to obtain a open visa for common law partner when going to border with pnp support letter? His name is not on the support letter even though it was on application. I have been told it is possible to obtain a permit for both of us at the border?

    Good News i received support letter by email today. Application 22nd April request for signed documentation from employer on 15th Sept returned Documents on 24th Sept ( received out of office until 29th) Support letter received 29th Sept by email. Advised pack will take 4 weeks to arrive in post.

    Makeit 2014, did BC PNP email you the support letter after you asked them about the status of your application or did they just tell you it was in the post? If in the post can you confirm when you receive it.

    For the skilled pnp stream you need to have a permenant job offer with no end date. This is the hardest bit to get I have found I do not know about the other streams.

    The easiest and safest thing to do is to apply for visitor visa before your current permit expires( eg day before), you must then stop working. Wait for support letter to arrive and once it does either apply for new work permit If doing this by post you have to wait for them to process before...

    I believe once you apply for visitor status online you have implied visitor status. If you go to border with support letter and other docs once you have them they will have the paperwork for you to get a new work visa.

    The easiest way to get a new work permit once you have the support letter is to drive to the border and flagpole. They can issue the new visa there and then.
