Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

My wife and I did the landing this weekend, so I thought I'd share my experience too. We went to the crossing at Caraway(Piegan crossing) and I would definitely recommend it to other albertans. It's a small crossing, and there was almost nobody there when we showed up at 3pm on Saturday. We...

CaNZ, after looking it up a bit more, it sounds like Carway is the best bet for doing the landing. I'll have to find out if there are any hour restrictions for when they will do the landing. Hopefully plan to go down on a Saturday. CT

CaNZ, I was thinking Piegan would be the closest for me to get to from here, and it's one of the bigger ones which I thought might better to do a landing at. CT

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

Can someone who has flagpoled at the border recently give me any advice/tips on what to expect? My wife mentioned hearing that it was possible just to notify them from within Canada. Has anyone else heard anything like that? We're looking for the paperwork to show up by the end of this month and...

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

Congrats on getting somewhere in this process finally CaNZ. My wife and I haven't waited nearly as long as you, so I can only imagine how you feel. We got an update today though. Since September, our status has been "file received" with no changes at all until today. My wife checked it on a...

Board seems pretty quiet this week. Can anyone share what they included in the extention package? The main thing I'm having trouble with is that it's asking for info that they already have from our PR application package, but I can't see any way to link them. What did you guys do for the med...

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

I'm working on the paperwork for an extension of my wife's stay, and it shows that proof of a medical exam is required. We don't have any paperwork for that. She did the exam in Korea and they sent it electronically. She said she only got a text to confirm it. How do I fulfill this req to get...

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

I have a quick question about taxes. On my Canada and alberta tax forms for my new employer, line 6 says I can claim a deduction if I am supporting my spouse. Since my spouse is not a permanent resident and can't work, I am fully supporting her. However, my question is whether I am allowed to...

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

Congrats! I'm living just out of Edmonton now and we're waiting on my wife's PR process. I think we're close to half way if no problems come up. I'm actually in job hunting mode for myself right now but I have come across a few positions that actually want Korean speakers. I saw one for a...

The amount of communication you need really depends on your situation. I sent in about 40 pictures with captions of dates and places, as well as event tickets etc. I also sent about 3 pages that included snippets of about 14 different text conversations, some of which coincided with the event...

We went back to AMA and I explained to them what Alberta health said on the phone, so it seems like everything is ok. Just waiting for the card to come in the mail this week sometime. As for the appendix A, we scanned and emailed it back, and we also sent a hard copy to be certain. They...

I called AMA about healthcare for my wife, and the passport stamp is in fact enough apparently. The guy at AMA was wrong. We sent back and hopefully got that all sorted out. In other news, we got the request for the appendix A today. I'm not sure where I read it, but is it correct that I can...

Hmmm, I went to the AMA office and they said they would not accept the stamp in her passport. The guy sad they would need more to do it:the passport as well as something else. Maybe I need to drive to the Edmonton office. CT
