A print-out of the attachment should be enough. We got the same messages and never received a mail. We did our test fine with the email attachment printout.

Unfortunately, I don't know the answer of your first question. I think some people leave Canada after their status expired and wait for their nomination and come back. Otherwise, I don't know how to extend the permit. Sorry.

A lawyer basically just helps you "prepare" the application and documents, but they don't know too much details (at least the one we use). By "prepare" I mean they tell you what documents you need to prepare, which you could get from the cic website, and you need to get those documents yourself...

Thank you! It looks like that they speeded up the process a little bit. Those who applied in Feb and Jan waited for 2 months before they got file number, and you waited for one and a half months before getting your file number. Hope that I'm right. Fingers crossed!

The attestation letter looks exactly the same as the one provided by cic. In the return letter, cic gave us a copy of the letter and said that we didn't include that letter. As a matter of fact, the letter was in the documents we sent and it had the university head, official stamp, and signature...
