    ROME OFFICE

When you come to Canada you have to go in the Visitor's side of Passport Control. When you tell the officer you are "landing" they will send you to another office right behind the Passport Control counters and then another officer will have you sign the COPR paper and ask you some questions (how...

So today hubby got his PR card in the mail. I was gone for a few days so I'm not sure exactly when it came. But around 6 weeks. Pretty cool! FYI it expires 5 years and 1 month from the day he landed. Congrats to all with good news. For others, be patient, it's worth the wait! Isabelle

Congrats Orchidea! You will get both the COPR and the Visa in your passport. It's pretty. That part. And then you just need to show them to the airline, to Passport control and to the border agent in Canada. That's all!

HAHAHA CLS. It's the part they glue into the passport. You didn't get one. The COPR paper is quite ugly and I was told to keep it in a safe place, even after you get your PR card, for citizenship, etc they will request to see the original COPR. Congrats, when are you landing?

Re: ROME OFFICE for a permanent visa to Canada Hi Flods, You cannot "decide" to ask for Permanent Resident in Canada. You can request it if you are married or in a common-law relationship with a Canadian. This particular group - Family Sponsorship, is for those who are coming to Canada to...

There are but they are difficult to find outside of Quebec. Check out settlement . Org and check the city where you will be living to see if they offer them.

Congrats CLS! Finally got the formal approval to plan your new life in Canada! Hubby has been here 1 month and is adjusting well. Had to update a few household items (SO much pasta in the cupboard and a king size bed) and the Government funded ESL classes are AWESOME. If anyone wants info on...

Oh and my local Multicultural Centre offers a course to become a recognized interpreter/translator so I will be starting that in November and will be able to help other Italian and French speaking Canadians. So all in all, pretty cool but VERY expensive. My bank account is suffering dearly...

    ROME OFFICE

Alright so here is the longer story: The interview itself is pretty intimidating. They bring you into a room with a glass in between (like a jail) and little speakers and microphones. My husband had an interpreter so there were 2 chairs. You CANNOT bring your purse, telephone, etc. So if you...

    February 2014 Outland Applications?

Hi Athina, It sounds like they are finalizing your file. It's a Passport Request but they also want to know that you intend to move to Canada and when and if you have a job waiting for you. If you send the requested information it shouldn't be too long. Congrats!

Hi everyone! Landing story to follow. Busy day getting the hubby a phone, SIN, registered for OHIP. Worst part is that I got the flu so the 24 hour commute home was the WORST and I was miserable the whole way. But sleeping in the same bed and having him cuddle up to the kitties has been priceless :)

GAHHHHH! My prayers have been answered! After a long interview with hubby and a few questions for me, they told us they would approve our application but that the paperwork could take time. February 2014 Outland Applications?

My husband has his interview today. It was long and they also asked to speak to me. They told us they would approve the application and we handed in his passport. A few hours later we received an email saying his passport was ready and the file was complete. After ALL that drama I am so happy...
