    BC Inlanders thread

I called MSP and they said my wife will get coverage from Aug 1 (landed May 26). I talked to my HR dept and they said they can't backdate it cause MSP said Aug 1; MSP said my HR can...we're just going to leave it since it we aren't going to get anywhere and it was just a week. I know...bad...

Thread For applications Through SYDNEY (AUSTRALIA) Office

i managed to call them but the person answering the phone only had access to incoming mail. sounded like he could access the system but wasn't supposed to. i've emailed them a few times and each time it's been less than 36 hours turnaround - they are good in replying but be clear and concise...

    February 2014 Outland Applications?

Congratulations to everyone who has received updates in the last little while. We visited NZ and returned - 0 issues coming back. No PR card still. I just explained to the Officer and it was just routine procedure. Hopefully the card still arrives soon.

Good luck and feel free to ask whatever comes your way - I certainly did and I wouldn't know where we'd be without the forums!

Agree with BubbOZ - we also used paperclips and I also had lots of Post-it's with little notes on them. In our case, they were kind enough to return our photographs - but that was it.

My wife (NZ passport) didn't have to send the scans or add't docs to Sydney. No interview either. For PPR, we just had to write that the passport details had not changed ( vitals) - didn't have to scan that - but in full disclosure, I understand they could ask for diff things from diff people.

How I organized our applcation and a summary of all helpful tips I have learned

We explained in the write up that we are including samples of our various chat conversations (Google Hangouts, Skype, email) since we don't use voice calling in the old fashioned sense. We just took samples from the beginning and then various times until we got married. It was just to show the...

How I organized our applcation and a summary of all helpful tips I have learned

We put together a 'small' package compared to some posters here; however, we went for quality and logic over volume. My wife and I met 2x in person before getting married; we met online but explained our whole timeline, our backgrounds, etc. We met in July and got married in Feb - while this...

officer said not advised - cause then they'd need a new CoPR and that'd take time. and since the PR card system is linked to landing - when they land you, the PR card request generates - so it'd be tricky to do the change of name then. i knwo someone who travels using her maiden name on her PR...

They used to give out pins and flags but they didn't have any. The Pac Hwy and Peace Arch crossings are the main crossings in Surrey/White Rock, BC. They are always busy but if you go after 930-10pm the wait is less. The one guard said we could park and walk across, it's much faster than...

Hi all, My wife landed last night at Pac Hwy x-ing. I meant to go to Peace Arch but I messed up taking a turn after getting gas. All worked out well and there was no wait in the office at all. It was super easy - I posted some more details in the Feb 2014 thread. Now to join the PR wait...

    February 2014 Outland Applications?

Gang, My wife landed last night. We went to Peace Arch about 8pm - thought it'd be quiet based on the reports, but it was almost 1 hour waiting. Turns out, we could have walked into the office, or done a U-turn, but we figured we'd do some shopping in Blaine also. The US guard gave us grief...

I believe I read that Canada officially does not require a ticket out of the country, but it's a 'good to have' when they assess you - of course every situation is different and it may or may not come up when you're with the IO.
