    Spouse sponsorship timeline CPP Ottawa

I wouldn't worry about not hearing anything for seven months. Our application was received June 6, 2013. After S.A. in mid July, we didn't hear anything until we got his PPR at the end of April. Things went much faster after that. ECAS changed to DM a week ago and his COPR arrived yesterday.

My husband's COPR arrived yesterday and he is going to be landing tomorrow!!! Can someone please update the spreadsheet? For those that have been asking, it took one week from "decision made" to receiving COPR.

Sponsoring my girlfriend, not so simple

Is there any reason why she can't apply for a student visa so she can legally stay in Spain with you? That should be step one. If you get married and sponsor her into Canada as your spouse, you will have to provide proof that once she is granted PR you will be returning to Canada with her. This...

    Question on payment receipt

Leave the client id part blank. You won't get a client id until you receive your AOR. As for crossing the border, carrying a copy of the receipt is a good idea. My husband (U.S. citizen) rarely had any issues coming to visit me. Once in awhile they did want to see some form of proof that he...

    June 2013 - Outland Applications!

My husband hasn't received his COPR yet, but ECAS just changed to "decision made" today. Our visa office is CPP-Ottawa. I have no idea what the timeline for Vienna is.

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Squishypenguin, My husband just finished improting his car, so I can answer your questions. In order to get a driver's license, you must get a copy of your driving history from Secretary of State. There is a form that you can find online to request this info. Get it mailed to you. They won't...

What is the best courier to use applying Outland?

Personally, I would not use UPS. I used to work for them and I wouldn't trust them with anything important.

My husband finally got his PPR today, but ECAS still says "in process" not "decision made". Does this pretty much mean that he has been approved and they haven't updated ECAS, or could it still go either way? Can someone please update me on the spreadsheet?

Travelling to and from the States while outland app in process; questions!!

As long as you have a visitor's record, you shouldn't have any problems. I am sponsoring my American husband and he is living with me on a visitor's record. He crosses the border daily to work in Michigan and has never had any problems. As long as you still meet the requirements to enter Canada...

OMG! OMG! OMG! It looks like there has been some movement on my application! I just got an email from my lawyer stating that CIC is asking for the permanent residence fee, which pretty much means that they are getting ready to issue his visa. I paid the fees and submitted the receipt with the...

Does my (future) wife have to be in Canada when applying for sponsorship for me?

She can apply to sponsor you even if she is not in Canada. She must provide proof that she intends to return to Canada with you (ie. proof of a job offer, lease for an apartment or offer on a home, etc.). It makes things a bit more complicated, but it is doable.

    Question about visitor's record

Even without PR you are allowed ONE duty free trip to furnish a residence in Canada. A lot of U.S. citizens have vacation property in Canada and are able to bring across furnishings duty free one time only. If he gives away or sells any of those item in Canada, he will then have to pay all...
