No update yet, ecas shows decision made, mycic shows background in process. Hopefully PPR by tomorrow.

Nope, I received no email , it was just my daily routine of checking mycic and it showed update in my application today. Also , I just checked my ECAS and it shows decision made.

Its pretty much monetary reasons, the applicants already in canada are contributing to the canadian economy one way or the other, while applicants outside of canada aren't. That's why probably they want the outside applicants to come in as quickly as possible so that more money is pumped into...

Yes, I extended my work permit at border but it was a Closed Work permit. I haven't seen anyone getting BOWP at border. - Also implied status only applies , if you have applied for permit extension before your current permit expires.

No, US visa is not required to do flagpoling. US visa will be required if someone plans to stay in US for some days and then decide to come back to canadian side to do flagpoling.

I didn't took the IMM form with me, they didn't ask, they also didn't ask for the medical document. also, You can withdraw your online application once you get the work permit at the border.

Yes, I went to the US border first, got a refusal of entry letter from the US officials. Then went to the Canada side to the immigration booth. Provided all the documents and got the permit in about 45 minutes. Go luck for your flagpoling, make sure you take all the documents with you. MW
