Can she ship the boxes before she leaves for Canada? What if they arrive before she gets here and gets her forms stamped? Hopefully the boxes will arrive a week or so after she does, but there is a chance they could get here before she arrives. If so, will I have to pay duty on her boxes? Thanks!

    Personal Effects

Hi, How does it work with shipping and bringing personal effects to Canada? I found form b4a-05b, Accounting of Personal Effects Document, and filled it out for my wife so she will have it ready when she lands. Do they just stamp it at customs when she arrives? She's shipping boxes of clothes...

    Landing in different city?

My wife received her visa and will be coming from Japan to live in Toronto in September. Question: if she transfers flights in Vancouver is that a problem? Does she have to show her visa and immigration papers in Vancouver? Is this considered landing when she arrives in Vancouver, or only when...

    Thread for MARCH 2010 applicants!

My wife received her passport today from the Canadian embassy in Tokyo. She sent it about a week ago, so I was surprised how quickly she got it back. She'll be landing in September or October. Best of luck to everyone and their new lives in Canada!

how "permanent" is wife's PR if we move abroad for my work?

Hi, I'm going to be applying for my wife's PR soon, and just wondering how permanent it really is, especially if I were to get transferred abroad and she wanted to come with me. I understand for any 5 year period she has to live at least 2 years of it in Canada but is that still the case if I...

photos - how many to sign? (guide seems to contradict itself)

Hi, I live in Canada and am about to sponsor my Japanese wife who lives in Tokyo. I'm a bit confused about what she has to write on the back of her photos, and on how many of them to write it. Part 2 and Part 3 of the guide seem to say different things. In Part 2: Immigrant's Guide (3999E) on...
