BC drivers? Been to Montreal lately? My wife talked about how polite Los Angeles drivers are when she came here. I thought she was joking at first since LA invented the drive-by shooting, but I learned first hand that Montreal drivers haven't learned the concept of a crosswalk being a "zone of...

    Sponsoring while applying for citizenship?

No, the wait has been due to the Ottawa office after Buffalo, NY closed. No matter, I'll be GLAD to be done. I had to wait over a year to bring my wife to the US originally, then a year and a half for me to get to Canada. We've been friends for 7 years, married for 3 years but only physically...

    Sponsoring while applying for citizenship?

Hey, talk to some of us about patience! I applied from the US in Sept 2011 and just got my PPR, while seeing other people from the US apply almost a year later and already landed in Canada. I have premature balding from pulling my hair out! ;D

Which VO will my visa come from?

Yes, provided the PPR to PR Received timeframe hold true. I checked the timeline spreadsheets for Ottowa apps and seems to be 10-60 days regardless of the VO (Buffalo, London, etc). It's been tough be certain about much of anything with CIC!

Which VO will my visa come from?

Sweden, regarding your post about Customs stamping the COPR but forgetting to stamp the passport....TRUST ME, I will put a post-it note with those directions on the cover of my passport and I will put the stamp in their hand and slam it down on my passport myself if I have to! ;D I'm not...

Which VO will my visa come from?

Hi Annie. I think they will based on what Service Canada's website says is required for documentation. However, it might only include COPR's that are post-landing, as you indicate. Besides, on second thought, I'm not sure I want to send off my COPR and US passport given how crucial those are (SC...

Next time, just wink at the TSA agent and tell her, "Sweetheart, we're both consenting adults. What are you afraid of?" Yeah, works for me all the time.... :-X

Which VO will my visa come from?

Thanks Sweden! Yes, I'm US. When you say "stamped and dated" do you mean stamped in my passport or they stamp the COPR showing I landed? Also, I'm going to have a new passport when I land. Mine expires this coming December so I'll be renewing it in the next few months, definately before I land...

It really goes both ways, regardless of which Customs it is, agents are either respectful or they're not. My first trip to Canada, I got taken into the interrogation room was probed for about 15 minutes (to this day, they occasionally look at their computer screen and ask me the same few...

Yeah, on my second visit to Montreal during winter when we were dating originally, I showed up in a pea coat and she said, "Hon, where's your winter coat?". I replied, "I'm wearing my winter coat!" and she said "That's not a coat, that's a coat LINER!" She always got mad when I called her up and...

Spouse PR to Quebec via Buffalo...Medical now expired...no word from CIC

Diego, just to follow up with you since I can't send you a PM, I just got my passport request (PPR) from Ottowa. Per CPP-O's website, all the Buffalo transfer cases have been reviewed and they are now issueing visas. If you were part of the Buffalo transfer for family class sponsorships, I think...

My remark concerned several pages of discussion, not just you or the other poster's remarks. Whether immigrating to Canada or to the US, all of us are giving up something to be with the person we love because THEY are our home. I have my own concerns and fears about moving to Canada just as my...

Which VO will my visa come from?

I finally got my PPR by email last week from CPP-O. It's a family class PR app and since I live in Los Angeles, I indicated LA in my application as the office for any interviews needed. Once CPP-O finishes everything with my passport copy, do they transfer everything to LA for the LA office to...

Folks, can we take the verbal sparring down a notch? This dialog has gone way off topic and doesn't honor anyone. Canada and the U.S. are both first-world countries, allies and partners. Both have their appeals and both have their drawbacks.

Buffalo to CPP-O transfers...FINALLY! Anyone see this yet?

First of all...YEAHHHH!!! Got my PPR by email last week! :D :D I was part of the Sept 2011 family class filers who who've been left in limbo with the Buffalo transfer fiasco. From what I'm seeing on the timelines, it looks like up to 60 days or so from PPR to visa/COPR in hand. Thank the lord...

Spouse PR to Quebec via Buffalo...Medical now expired...no word from CIC

Hi Diego! No, no PR yet. CIC requested me to get a new medical in mid-December, which I did. I emailed them at the end of January to confirm they received it but they replied a week later saying they didn't have my email address on file, wouldn't release any info about "the applicant (ahem...

Suddenly CIC doesn't know who I am? Worried.....

Like all the other people who've gone through the Buffalo to CPP-O transition, I've been waiting almost a year and half on my application for Spouse/USA to Quebec. I got a notice right before Christmas to get my medicals done again (gee, thanks) and decided to email Ottowa on Jan 29 to ensure...

censor people in photos (relationship photos, wedding, etc)

Using altered photos is a VERY bad idea! Not only will it invite questions and guarantee you get called for an interview, it will cause them to question EVERYTHING in your package. If they feel you might be hiding something, even with a good reason, they will pick through everything else in...

    DMP Los Angeles

Mine was done by Steve Gitlin, who handles both Canada and Australia as I recall. There aren't many DMP's and Dr. Gitlin was the cheapest of all the ones I called. It's not the nicer side of town but they were very nice, very professional and knowledgeable about the immigration requirements. As...
