Thread for applications sent OCTOBER 2009

My husband landed today! We crossed into the US via the Pacific Highway land crossing in the morning and headed to Seattle to load up the U-Hual with his stuff. We got back to the Canadian side of the crossing at about 6:00 PM. The whole landing process probably took about 30 minutes and was...

Thread for applications sent OCTOBER 2009

My husband received his passport back today, with a shiny visa inside. Our timeline is in my signature below - I really didn't think we would be finished so quickly! We're planning on doing his landing this weekend, by land crossing. We'll drive to Seattle to pick up his stuff and then drive...

    Desperate and Panicking....

Does that mean you are planning to apply as conjugal partners rather than common-law partners? Considering there has been no barrier to you living together (which you have but don't have a joint lease as proof) or getting married, it would be unlikely that you would be approved under the...

Send everything except FBI certificate - Send that later?

My husband applied through Buffalo, and we sent the application without having the FBI certificate because the certificate we did receive stated he was born in the Netherlands rather than Nebraska. So we put in a request for a corrected FBI certificate, and sent off the application explaining...

Passport Request - Where to Send and What Happens Next?

My husband received his passport request via email on January 29. He has a visitor record that allows him to stay in Canada until June 20, 2010 and he is currently residing with me in BC. The instructions for passport submission state that if your address is in Canada, the passport should be...

No proof of citizenship but want to sponsor spouse

People love handing out their opinions and judgements. Some of the comments that have been made on this forum towards other members really saddens me. However, there are many individuals on here who are capable of giving sound advice without being judgemental. I would encourage you to...

Getting Worried - Visitor Extension and PR Application

My husband (US citizen) was issued a 6-month visitor record that will expire on January 23. He gathered everything together to apply for an extension in early December, and decided to try his luck applying at the port of entry (land crossing at Pacific Highway in BC) instead of mailing the...

A copy of birth Certificate any advice before I send it

This is most likely the reason. We sent our original marriage certificate and my husband's original birth certificate (both in English) with our application, and both documents were sent back to us last week. This week my husband got a letter requesting copies of our marriage certificate and...

    Common-Law sponsorship

You might try looking into opening an account at another bank - one that will allow you to add your non-Canadian boyfriend to your account. My husband and I opened a chequing and a savings account at the Bank of Montreal (BMO), and he is a US citizen. We opened the accounts in person, and all...

    Extension of Visitor Status

My husband was issued a visitor record for 6 months, and it expires on January 23, 2010. He is a US citizen, so he is visa-exempt but he was given the visitor record by an IO after he was refused entry by another IO a few days earlier. The visitor record says that he is a frequent traveller to...

    fingerprints/criminal record clearance

My husband got his FBI certificate in about two and a half weeks. On the cover letter, it asks whether you have a deadline so we put a date and stated that is was for immigration purposes. There ended up being a mistake on the report (his country of birth was listed as the Netherlands, instead...

US citizen applying for spouse PR - US/CAN border crossing ????

Yes, we submitted our permanent residency application and we used the outland option. I would suggest you do the same, as you need to leave Canada every week for your job. With the inland option, it is recommended that you do not leave the country while the application is in process. As far...

US citizen applying for spouse PR - US/CAN border crossing ????

My situation is similar to yours, except in reverse. I am the sponsor, living in BC, and my husband is a US citizen with a full-time job in Seattle. His employer allows him to work 3-4 days per week from home, but he has to travel down to Seattle once a week to work in the office. He...

Thread for applications sent OCTOBER 2009

ECAS says that a decision was made on our application on October 29, so we are anxiously awaiting the letter in the mail. CPC-M received our application on October 13. I know this is only the first part of the application, but the waiting game is starting to kill me!
