I have a similar question. I wish you could help answering me. I became a canadian PR in August 2001 and lived in Canada til december 2003 and filed my tax returns for those years. I left in December with the intention to come back after three years (before PR expires). I never returned back...

Getting reported at US/Canada border for not meeting res. reqs. Still PR?

Thanks Leon. Actually it wouldn't be the same passport. The passport I previously used for landing and issue of PR card was of a different visa non exempt country. Do I have to present my expired PR card to show them that I am the same person? If I enter through US Border in a private car...

Getting reported at US/Canada border for not meeting res. reqs. Still PR?

Hi senior members. Just want to ask about the chances of getting in with an expired PR. My card expired when I was outside Canada (September 2008) and never made an attempt to renew it. Is it possible to get in to Canada with my visa exempt passport or will they ask me for my expired PR?

How to enter in Canada with expired PR card and how to renew it?

Hi, You may enter from the states by a private vehicle. They do not ask for PR card. All they ask for is the landing papers and your passport. That has been the experience of one of my friends.

    expired PR card

Hi, My PR card expired and I didn't fulfil the 2 years obligation. Now I want to return to Canada. A friend of mine told me that I can still do that if I drive through the US borders as they do not ask for a valid PR. I am currently in the US but I am not a US citizen. Is that possible...

Validity of PR obligation on Port of Entry

I totally agree with you, but if they are suspicious for some reason, I guess they would be asking a more direct question like, "did you stay in Canada for 750 days in the past 5 years"? There is no way to espcape this direct question with a political answer without lying. And for ppl who were...

Validity of PR obligation on Port of Entry

Thanks Leon. I understand my PR is gone, and I already took the decisioin to not even try to enter when the card was valid. Didn't seem attainable for me without lying at the the border point, and am not good at lying among other many things am not good at :). I am already talking to the...

Validity of PR obligation on Port of Entry

How would the immigration at the port of entry know that the individual was absent for more than three years. i.e how can they challenge the individual assertion of not being away for more than 2 years?

    re-applying

Thanks a lot leon. I still have the expired card with me. I guess it is better not to mail it to the embassey now. I think I'd rather go for the H&C option. Any idea what documentation would they want to see?. Actually my specific case is that the 1095 days ended 29 September 2006, I didnt...

    re-applying

Thanks a lot Leon. I am really not sure what is better for me. Should I apply for a travel document under H&C, or re-apply. My only concern is that if my travel document is declined for whatever reason, that may have negative impact on my future application.

    re-applying

I have relinquished my PR as I have not stayed in Canada for 1095 and would like to re-apply after some time. I read in CIC website that there are two sets of applications: (1) is regular (2) simple. I understand that the regular is for indivduals who have been admited to Canada for at least...

    Urgent-My PR status

Thanks a lot Leon, thats a great help. I think I'd rather play it safe. What do you mean by "relinquish your PR voluntarily"? Is there a formal process to do that, like to go to the Canadian Embassy in the Country am residing and return back my card? Do you think if I re-apply for an...
