    Question about Spousal Application /TRV

Having a job is definitely an advantage, it would reduce your chances I reckon if the sponsor was on social assistance. Unless the sponsor can prove they have regular income from other sources or capital (eg inherited money, prior savings, investments etc).

Spouse visa application (OUTLAND) and Open Work Permits

Thanks for the replies. Well at this stage I'm still regarded as a temporary visitor so I would have had to book a return flight anyway - I'm playing everything by the rules when it comes to visiting. I'll just play it by ear. Perhaps a work permit will have been approved by November, (I will...

    March 2024 Inland Spousal Sponsorship

I'm not sure, you could always submit a webform to IRCC saying you previously accidentally provided an out of date document but have the up to date one now. I've never had to contact IRCC (yet!) about anything regarding my own application so wouldn't really know to be honest.

Spouse visa application (OUTLAND) and Open Work Permits

Oh just another quick question.. I do have a return flight ticket to UK in November, would they allow me to go back to my home country to sort out home affairs briefly and come back soon after that, or do I have to remain in Canada whilst a work permit application is being processed? Thanks...

Spouse visa application (OUTLAND) and Open Work Permits

Thank you, that's very helpful. I just wasn't sure as various websites didn't make it particularly clear whether it's just for inland visa applications only. I have the AOR.

Spouse visa application (OUTLAND) and Open Work Permits

As I understand it, with INLAND spouse visa applications, applicants can apply for open work permits, I was wondering if this also applies to outland applicants. I am visiting my husband (in Quebec) for just under 6 months a in a couple of weeks' time. We are both expecting the application to...

    March 2024 Inland Spousal Sponsorship

They will probably ask for it later. Also if you mean an AOR (Acknowlegment of Receipt), that can take a few to several weeks as they need to check all the forms etc you submitted were completed and correct. The AOR will go to the Sponsor, who gets their own UCI number, then the applicant gets...

    Spousal sponsorship

Perhaps they don't need so much detail, but I decided to throw everything I had at them and make everything as transparent and decipherable as possible so they wouldn't return my application. Perhaps because mine is an outland application and they need to make sure we are genuinely in a...

    March 2024 Inland Spousal Sponsorship

Mine (I'm in UK) cost £350 (British pound sterling), so it will be approximately be that in whatever country you're in (obviously converted to your country's currency). But the cost probably varies from country to country.

    March 2024 Inland Spousal Sponsorship

You go to a biometrics testing centre and they take a passport style photo of you and finger and thumb prints. Basically takes about 5-10 minutes. Some people probably have biometrics already done in the past as they last for 10 years, maybe that's why their biometrics are completed the same day...

Is it helpful to hire a lawyer?

If you understand how to complete the application forms, you don't need a lawyer (in my opinion). Unless you have a few thousand to spend, or want to appeal a rejected application (I still wouldn't use one if an application was rejected). You say your wife is divorced; has she got signed divorce...

January 2024 - Outland Spousal Sponsorship

Your husband should receive at some point an email from IRCC (usually entitled "Do Not Reply"), attaching a PDF letter document requesting biometrics, and another email at some point (often around the same time as the biometrics instruction letter, but not always) requesting a medical. Through...

    Spousal sponsorship

I did. I had about 20 suitable photos so compiled them into one PDF document, numbering each photo and putting my name (as applicant), the context (eg, place and location) on each photo and the date it was taken. I also added a document at the beginning (converted from Word to PDF format)...

PR/Sponsorship Application Returned with No Reason Why (2024)

Those portals can be a little confusing sometimes I agree. I mean, in my portal account (I'm the Applicant) I look at "Eligibility" and think: "is that eligibility for ME or eligibility for my husband (the sponsor)?" Their explanations are a little vague.

PR/Sponsorship Application Returned with No Reason Why (2024)

Personally I would have waited for the secondary email from them before trying to resubmit your application based on what you THOUGHT the issue was. It might have complicated matters to be honest. Maybe it WAS because of the unsigned Consent & Declaration, but you wouldn't know for sure until...

Question on when to submit the application

Also bear in mind that you will need to submit a police clearance certificate for him in your application for any country in which he has spent 6 months or more (which obviously includes his home country). Plus copies of his birth certificate and passport. So he will need these with him when he...

"We are reviewing the additional documents you provided." but actually I did not send anything to them. What is going on?

Three years seems a very long time to wait for a background check to complete. Have you tried contacting IRCC to find out if there are any issues stalling it? Also, when you say "additional documents", do you also mean additional supporting documents such as photos evidencing your marriage...

February 2024 - Outland Spousal Sponsorship

You won't get any answer on whether the PR is approved until the background check has been completed successfully and eligibility marked as approved. You'll have to wait. As to how long it takes, well... "how long is a piece of string?" I'm expecting mine to take approx 1-2 years (as my spouse...
