It is valid for 2 years or your passport expiry if it expires earlier than 2 years. For example, if your passport expires in 2025, then your OWP will expire the same time as passport, also in 2025. Otherwise, it would be for 2 years.

You should have applied for OWP when you received the AOR. I recommend you to apply for the OWP now so that you are given maintained status in case your work permit expires in May.

For me, when I did biometrics for PR, it automatically updated the biometrics information for the OWP application as well. So in your case, you most likely won't have to do biometrics again for PR. Only once for your OWP.

Will they email you when they complete the long background check? Or do you have to manually check on the IRCC portal?

Complete as well in December. The only thing I'm waiting for is Background.

Yeah medical was already done in the past so it was automatically marked complete in December. Only biometrics was requested in December
