    Yes they do give you scanned copies but if they are expired passports then you got no option but to use the claimant document or apply for RTD but the claimant document is enough i think

    You mentioned passport copy, but passport gets siezed by CBSA when you apply for refugee,. I think you have to use the refugee claimant document to apply for work permit extension or get RTD

But overall you sign bunch of documents and you get a copy of all of them and you keep themn safe and after that you wait untill they schedule your hearing and thats it
