Is there a possibility that a passport is ready for pick up before the date printed on the receipt?

Hello Everyone, I just submitted my application this afternoon but I realized later today that I forgot to submit an explanation letter regarding the gap in my passport. Should I submit this document before CIC asks for it or should I wait for them? Thank you so much!
