In the portal you declare that you are in Canada, as long as you submit that declaration in Canada you should be fine.

You should apply, I was hoping that my PR would come before needing to apply and now I'll not have my BOWP when my current expires. That means that I will have an implied status that allows me to continue working but my OHIP will expire and I will not be able to renew it until I get a new visa...

Actually, mine was done on April 1st 2021, maybe they preemptively renewed.

Ah I see, got it. Then that's the case indeed. They took so long to process that my medical exam expired. :(

That doesn't make sense, the medical should be valid for 2 years, right? Mine was from about 1y ago.
