    Advice on Family Sponsorship

Hi everybody, I'm planning on sponsoring my mother-in-law with the intention of her living here if she likes it here (and we all get along!) The catch is that her son who lives with her is only 13, so he would have to come too. I'm wondering if we should be sponsoring them as visitors, or...

    Sponsor mother and younger brother?

Thank you for clarifying for me. I suppose this is our only option. Chances seem pretty slim though.

    Sponsor mother and younger brother?

Is it possible to sponsor both my husband's mother and 12-year old brother together as permanent residents? His father has passed, and they have no source of income except from us. It would be better for us financially to support them if they lived with us. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you

Re-entry with expired PR, waiting for new card

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, he has both. Is there any chance they might turn him away? We're just nervous because it would be a total disaster if he can't return to work.

Re-entry with expired PR, waiting for new card

Hi all! My husband has been living in Canada as a PR for the past 4 years. We will be driving to the USA by car for a wedding, but he only realized his pr card was expiring in March. Right away he applied for a renewal ,but seeing as on the website they are still working on pr cards received...

    Sponsoring baby brother

Would anyone know the answer to this? My husband has a baby brother, 10 years old now, living in the Philippines. Their father is now deceased, and their mother is now older and having health issues. We are planning to sponsor him but have not yet started the process. What would happen in the...

    Sponsoring sibling - mom "unfit"?

Thanks for your quick responses. That SUCKS! I don't know how I could live with her, but I might not have a choice. Not that I'm planning anything evil, but just more out of curiosity - What happens if she passes away? Her son will be left an orphan????

    Sponsoring sibling - mom "unfit"?

Hi guys, I'm canadian, and my husband is a permanent resident from the Philippines. (I sponsored him). His little brother is only 9 years old. His father passed away, and his mom is now a single mother. My husband has one older brother, but he's not really in the picture. We'd love to...

Sending Money Back Home - Philippines

Thanks for the ideas, guys. I guess there's no way to really handle it other than what we've been doing already, and to just remain FIRM. A lot of you suggest that we speak to my mother-in-law and reason with her. But the truth is, she refuses to believe anything we say. She thinks that...

Sending Money Back Home - Philippines

It has been just over 7 months since my husband finally arrived from the Philippines! Yay!!! Together at last. Thankfully the Lord has been good to us, and my husband found a job less than one month after arriving. It's been a rough go though, and he finally settled into a new job that...

    october 2011 applicant join here!!!!

Awww... I'm so sorry it's taking this long. Trust me - I know the feeling. I also went to my MP when I felt it was taking too long. My husband got his visa a little over 1 month after (including Christmas holidays). I don't know if it pushed it further along, but I imagine it did.

    october 2011 applicant join here!!!!

They sent him his visa and CPR forms. Apparently (I just found this out from a friend who did this before)... in the Philippines they REQUIRE you to undergo a one-day seminar called "Guidance and Counselling". They basically teach you about the cultural differences in Canada, and how to...
