Re: For those that have already landed... 1. Most challenging thing, without a doubt, for me is finding a job. Canada is a big place and I am a way from any metropolitan area where there is work. 2. Actually I have two pieces of advice. i) You will miss your family and friends from your...

    Thread for January 2011 Applicants

Hey all, hope you're having a nice summer. I just got an e-cas update saying my application is complete. Haven't had my PR card yet but I assume the status change means it's been issued. I landed June 17th btw Kaycee1. Best of luck to those still waiting

I too have had negative experiences with Canadian IOs. Whether they are 'nice' is largely irrelevant if they do not know the legislation they are enforcing. In two cases with me, they have been 'nice' but have misunderstood immigration law.

My application was filed 3 months and 3 days after my UK police cert was issued and they never asked for another one. I've now landed. Well done for sending it off - such a massive weight has been lifted off your shoulders. Now the hard part...the wait. Good luck

I got there around 1:20pm and there were about 20 people in the line in front of me. They started letting people in at or before 2pm. I waited until around 2:20pm before I went through the door. I'm pretty sure even if you arrived at 2pm you would still get your documents handed in. You don't...

The warning should be more general. It's not just CIC/CBSA who fall foul to not having up to date legislation at their fingertips as I found out at a provincial access centre yesterday. So...warning, everyone read the up to date laws of Canada for every public service and otherwise and be...

Just back - made it in 19 hours. CBSA ended up saying the IO was wrong to have not accepted my E4 on Friday. They stamped the exact same ones as I handed over and got handed back to me. I'm done now. Good luck everyone

    Thread for January 2011 Applicants

Landed June 17th at Vancouver. Great to be a PR finally however the experience was jaded slightly because of the following: A five and a half hour wait at immigration before I got to see an IO to accept my COPR and stamp my passport, which took 5 minutes - and no I didn't get a "Welcome to...
