Hi All, we are planning to get H4 stamped in Canada ( we have canadian PR).

My h1b is being filed in premium and it will approved soon ( I-140 approved ) . Are we eligible to get our H4 stamped in Canada , if yes then would it be dropbox or in-person?

How do we go about booking a slot in Toronto/ Ottawa. Thanks so much.
No one here can tell if you are eligible for dropbox or not. Because the workflow in the site will lead you to appointment/dropbox, depending on the data you input about your profile personal detail. So the only way to find out is to start applying, pay the fee and find out yourself.

You get option to select which consulate you want for the stamping. Site's navigation is simple. Just follow the site's instructions.

Hello Folks,

here's my situation:

Worked in USA with Employer X on H1B (I-140 approved) until 2019.
Moved to Canada 2 years back on a PR.
Now my current employer (Employer Y) is relocating me back to the US. My I-797 just got approved.
While filling the application for a visa appointment on the AIS website I see the following question:

X is in possession of the previous visa that is being renewed.

Should I answer it as a YES or a NO as this is new employment with Employer Y. The basis for classification is selected as "New Employment" on my petition/case papers. My dropbox eligibility depends on the answer, as answering YES makes me eligible for dropbox. I do possess/have the previous visa on my passport but not sure if I can consider it as a renewal?
anybody is in the same boat as me?

Any help will be much appreciated.

I have sent documents by courier a month ago for H4, so far there is no update on DS 160 tracking. No acknowledgement of the document received. Is this normal?

Processing is taking longer these days. I know someone who has been waiting for 5 weeks without any status. Which consulate did you send your application?

Hi All,

I am a Canadian Permanent resident, currently living in Canada. I am applying for H1B stamping, my 1st stamping for H1B was done in India, I believe I am eligible for dropbox option but when I paid the fees for the stamping I got only in person option, not sure why, I sent an email to Ottawa embassy for a clarification, but wanted to check in mean while if anyone faced this issue.

Thanks.

There is no appointment necessary in Canada for dropbox. You simply have to mail in the documents to the address they provide and then wait for the passport to be issued to either CPC locations they provide or with premium delivery to your home address in Canada. I submitted my ds-160 Nov 20th drove across the border from USA and dropped my package in on Nov 26th. I am hearing there is a 4-6weeks wait from the day you drop your package. They are extremely short staffed is the reason I got over the phone with embassy in Ottawa. Airbnb's are expensive too if you are doing that :) factor all these things in before you decide to come here. Its been 11days as of today no status update on my ds-160.
Hi there! Could you please tell me what documents were required for H1b visa drop box in Canada?

I am planning to submit Ds-160 this week. I have my stamp from India and this will be the first time for h1b stamping application in Canada. Could you please keep us posted if you receive any response from the consulate? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hey I got a reply from consulate in Ottawa, they changed my in person appointment to a drop box, I had to email them twice, got the reply after second email.
