It was indeed a long process. After I took the oath ceremony on Tuesday July 16, I submitted my passport application on Friday July 19. The guarantor thing is a pain in the neck. Many people including my previous manager either gave me a hard time or expected a large reward for this favour. I finally found a doctor who was willing to help. I couldn't thank him enough.

Today I received my passport. I immediately applied for a Nexus card as well. The law of my birth country does not allow dual-citizenship with Canada and I have to fill an application to renounce that citizenship, which is another chore.

A minor let-down is that the Canada passport I received is so cheaply made. My old passport (from a Third-World country!) has faux-leather covers and heavy-weight, partially cotton papers. It just feels substantial in hand.

Meanwhile, the Canadian passport has thin, plastic covers and cheap pulp-based papers. This won't age well and the cheap papers will be very sensitive to moisture. A brief exposure to rain could necessitate applying for a new passport.

I’ve got test invite 2 weeks before the test,
So you have more than two weeks.
I did only online tests , many of them, and I did 20/20
Test is not difficult.
And ... read the book , once .

In person. Call them and then go. Normally you don’t have to book an appointment but better to check.

You don’t meet the MP. The office has a dedicated person who handles issue with IRCC, CRA and other govt departments.

Hi guys, just an update, I just called IRCC and they said they have a Test day ready for me, but just haven't been actually uploaded to the website, the agent told me it should be August 17th, and I should be able to verify it on their website very very soon, and if I don't see anything by next week, I should give them a call back, and they can manually update the website with the test date.
