Hello everyone. I'm a little confused about getting the PCC for several reasons. I currently live in Saudi Arabia and was born here. However over the past 30 years, I have travelled to Pakistan several times (never more than 6 months) except for a 4 year stretch where I was studying in Lahore at LUMS and then left right after. My address on my NIC is Islamabad (since my husband's NIC has his address on it). Should I get the PCC from Lahore or Islamabad? Also, what will be the duration of my stay? Sept 2005-June 2009 (my university dates) or my entire life? The first time I travelled to Pakistan was probably when I was a few months old. It would be great if somebody could help me. Thanks

Hi! Did you get a response from anywhere else? I am also in a similar boat and would like to connect! I was born and raised in another country and went to study at LUMS for 4 years, and then worked for a few years in Karachi. However, my Pakistan Origin Card (i am not a Pakistani citizen but originally from Pakistan so this card serves the same purpose as a NIC/NICOP) has the address of Karachi on it. Wondering where to get my PCC made from and what dates to put on the certificate.

hey there luminite.

you need to get the PCC from karachi and put the dates of when you actually stayed there. Best to get a certificate from Date of 18th birthday to present, as this will avoid any gaps etc. If you are not in karachi then maybe get some third party to do it for you.

Do you have an ITA? once you get it, you can check the address section of the PR application this needs to match the PCCs (or vice versa).

Best of luck!

Thank you so much for your quick response!

So are you saying that I get the PCC from just Karachi from 18th birthday till present and this will cover both a) my time in Lahore and Karachi and b) all my short visits after I left pakistan for good?

This was my timeline:

Moved to Lahore from home country to study: Aug 2008- June 2012
Moved back to home country: June 2012-May 2013
Moved to Karachi for work: June 2013-March 2015
Moved back home: April 2015
Visited Pakistan post April 2015 around 9-10 times, with the latest visit being in Nov 2018.

Also, if i get a PCC from just Karachi, in order for it to match my personal history, would I not mention the hostel address at LUMS? My concern is that my travel history shows exit stamps to and from Lahore whenever I traveled to my home country during semester breaks and they might be curious as to why the address of Lahore isn't written in personal history section and just that of Karachi? (P.S I'm also not a pakistani national but have a pakistan origin card which is used as an NIC equivalent and has karachK as my permanent address. Oh and I haven't gotten ITA yet but trying to get ahead of things specifically with all police certificates)

Hi
Yaar I suggest getting 2 certificates; one from Lahore and one from Karachi. I was confused about the same thing and so just got 2 to end the confusion. For lahore, the duration is pretty much my entire life since I've been travelling to Pakistan almost every year for a few weeks and there was no way to track the actual trips. The one from Islamabad covers only a year since my susraal is in islamabad and my husband got that address put on my NIC. You have to have a PCC for the address on your NIC for sure so i think get 2 if you can.

Thanks! Yes I've lived in Karachi for few years and have visited it numerous times so will get a ''lifetime" one from there.

When you say your Lahore PCC covers your entire life, did you basically give dates from your 18th birthday till current date? Also, since you have been visiting and also studied in Lahore , what address did you put on there? The LUMS hostel or any of your residential address? I only lived in the hostel during my time in Lahore so I'm guessing I'll have to get a proof of residence at the hostels from RO, LUMS?
Thanks!

Hi!
No, by lifetime i mean literally from 2 months after my birth to date. I know they only require clearance from when you were 18 and above but my consultant advised me to just get one from birth. For my time during LUMS , I was in the dorms too but we also had a house in Lahore so I gave my house address just because getting proof of residence was easier. Since you don't have an alternate, i think you'll have to get it from RO like you said. Just make sure you have all the documents so the process is really straightforward then. Do let me know if you have any more questions! I'll be happy to help.
P.S. Just passed by LUMS today and had a major bout of nostalgia.

Thank you so much! I will reach out to you if I need help with the Lahore PCC as I can easily get the Karachi one but not so sure about lahore. And yeah I'll contact RO for the address. Thank you once again :)

I haven't been back to LUMS in many years and really want to visit sometime. But heard it has changed a lot!

Hi! Just a follow up question. I never lived in Islamabad, but there are some travel stamps that showed that I visited the city (like flew in from my home country there twice and was also there for a summer internship). Would I also have to, in addition to Lahore and Karachi (cities that I actually stayed in for more than 6 months) get a PCC for Islamabad too?

You only need PCCs that match your address history (in the address section of the application). you dont need one from ISL if you never lived there (i.e. if you did not put islamabad in your address history).

In your case, one from Lahore and one from Khi will do just fine. and just ask them to make it from either your birth to date, or from your 18th birthday to date.

You dont need to get anything from RO or LUMS. the PCC application procedure in Lahore does not require you to provide any evidence of your stay. They will however demand a PCC from your Permanent address district (if you have a non-lahore address). You can give them a copy of your khi PCC in your case. Also, Lahore PCC can only be applied in person or through a blood relative with an affidavit and a properly stamped/executed authority letter on stamp paper, or endorsed from any pakistani embassy if you are not in Pk.

and PS: LUMS has changed so much that you feel out of place. or maybe its been too long since I graduated.

Thank you so much!

I got my PCC from Karachi from 18th birthday till my last visit there in Dec 2018 as I do not plan to visit again. (Should be fine?)
Though I left Karachi in 2015, I made it to cover any last visit to Pakistan (regardless of city) as I have seen that a reason for rejection is that even if you dont live in Pakistan anymore but had visited for a few days after leaving it, they may say that the PCC doesnt cover the entire period as per travel stamps to Pakistan.

About the Lahore PCC, I wanted to ask you if I should also follow a similar strategy i.e. I get a PCC made from my 18th birthday till my recent visit, even though I have never resided at the address (LUMS hostel) post 2013. This would save me from any rejections based on a similar reasoning that I visited Pakistan post 2012 and that the Lahore PCC should also cover those visits- but would it backfire if they can see that I never went back to the address at LUMS post 2012 but have a PCC till 2018? I know they could even say that for Karachi (i.e. why is it till 2018 when I left the address listed in my address history in 2015), but do you think having two PCCs from two cities for the same time period (18th birthday-till last visit) would raise a flag? Let me know what you think..

And yes, I have not been back to LUMS since 2013 and I have heard that a lot of it has changed which makes people not want to visit as, as you said, it makes one feel out of place

Pre-Assessed..
Yes
I have always been overseas and never spent more than a few months in Pakistan until recently, 6 months have lapsed on my current address (also mentioned as my temp address on my nic). Do I need to get PCC for current address only or also one from my permanent address(anscestral home) ?

Another major issue I am having is that im in bahria town rawalpindi i went to the rawalpindi police station n they denied me a pcc saying that i have to get one from my permanent address which doesnt make sense as i never even stayed there for 6 months. Later they told me to just to get the pcc from isb since my part of the area falls in isb territory yet according to google maps it doesnt although its close... Anyone else having similar issue? What’s the solution?

Guys, I am getting a PCC from Pakistan, I just wanted to ask if my end date should be last date of visit or to date. Someone advised me earlier to go with to date, not sure as I I reside in Canada now.

Has anyone faced issues by just putting the last date of visit instead of to date? Help please!

I think it should be fine. CIC is probably not going to overthink the PCC end date if you are physically not there. A lot of countries issue blanket PCCs without any dates. All this PCC is really saying that you are clean as of date of printing the certificate.
