Dear all,
Stupid question. Do all applications (FSW) from Indian citizens staying in India get processed at NDVO?

Dear all,
Stupid question. Do all applications (FSW) from Indian citizens staying in India get processed at NDVO?
No. About 60-70% FSW Outland files from India are transferred to Ottawa Visa Office, only the remaining 30-40% files are sent to NDVO. This a random transfer and anyone can be transferred to either office. Chances of being transferred to NDVO increase for files with previous refusals, otherwise its random. People make the mistake of assuming that if they are from India then their file will be at NDVO only. This is wrong, CIC can send files to different Visa Offices especially Ottawa (for Indians) for load sharing.
The accurate way to know your visa office for sure is either by calling them and asking, e-mailing them to ask or via GCMS.

P.S- This was a very good question, many people still remain unaware of this and wrongly assume NDVO as their Visa Office and misinformation is spread. Its good to ask always and as many wise people have said, no question is a stupid one:)

-You can know your Visa Office by sending an email to CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca

This is the email format they require:

IMPORTANT: You must provide us with your application number in the subject line of your email and include in the body of your email the following information:

* Surname and Given name(s)
* Date of birth (YYYY-MM-DD)
* Unique Client Identifier (UCI) number / Client ID number
* Category of Immigration (CEC, Provincial Nominee, Family Class, Federal Skilled Worker, Temporary Resident)

- You can call CIC on - 1-613-944-4000
For GCMS, you can use third-party websites like https://www.getgcms.com/.

Adding to nicely explained by gurik..... You file basically lands at ndvo because there is something that is best judged or reviewed or assessed or investigated by the local visa office.
As seen in the GCMS generation manual... The decision of file transfer to local office is a result of comments and appraisal at CIO. They just want to get something clarified that can be best done at your local office.
As correctly stated.. 70% files are done at Ottawa only... And mainly it's your own way of presenting your papers that has caused the file to land at new delhi or may be you had a refusal earlier.

Hey Gurik,

Just a question... my background check status is still in the 'being processed' category. I tried calling the helpline number a few days back but it seems to have been discontinued. Is there any way I can follow up from India? I've ordered my GCMS notes but they have yet to come.

I sent a CSE today but God only knows if and when it will be answered.

I'm trying to stay positive but it's turning more and more difficult by the day. It's now almost 7 months since my AOR.
