I just had a quick question. How do they monitor when you’re out of the country as a Canadian if data is not being recorded?

You are contacted if there is an attack or disaster if Canada has you marked in an affected country, so how do they collect this data?

Just wondering... :)
You can sign up with an emergency list at the consulate of your country. Even if Canada tracked who leaves they couldn't know where you go. It's your job to tell the government in case you want to get rescued.

Feeling pretty gutted today. Opened the mailbox, and our family's entire application pack was returned, as CIC claim we did not submit the minimum of 2 forms of ID for the kids. I submitted a copy of their passports, copy of PR card and birth certificates - which are THREE forms of ID....

So someone there didn't even bother to go through all the documents.....

And to make it even worse, it cost me $80 to get the application pack there the first time with UPS - what a waste of money.
so sad! sorry to hear that.

I just mailed in my application but realized that I recorded a 1 day absence as in 2015 instead of 2014. It was a business trip to the U.S. Should I mail in a revised physical presence calculator or notify IRCC in some way? I have 1160 physical presence days so I have a decent buffer.

Still haven't received AOR.

AOR: Not yet :)

Thanks

Oh, One more thing: It looks like the line 440(id: nanovista) on the October tab has a broken formula (#REF! in the column O). This prevents the stats to show properly on the "Averages Comparison" tab (cell C5).

Thanks for the great initiative with this thread and the spreadsheet :)

Hey guys, I have a question. I am wondering for those who already got AOR post-C6, has anyone used PR card as the only ID, in particular those who just needs one ID according to the guide? I am the one who sent application with passport + PR card, and it seems someone else has got application returned due to this.

Can those who had AOR comment on what ID they had used?

I am not sure where you took the last two points from but I can guarantee you that for permanent residents and other third party citizens who are not Canadian or US citizens the entry/exit data are currently being collected by CBSA. I personally requested my CBSA records for a government-related job and I could see my first departure from Canada which happened back in 2010. Again I still disagree with you. Sorry!

With all due respect, but your own link disproves your claim:

CBSA (Canada) and CBP (US) collect data at the land border of non-US/CA citizens to be able to track exits.

It is however incorrect that Canada collects exit data of air and sea travel. In fact the very link you share says that the government doesn't do this yet but intends to do it.

Also, I ordered my CBSA record not too long ago and it does not contain my departures by plane. Only my departures when crossing the land border to the US.

The United States collect data on flights leaving US aiports. But Canada does not collect data on flights leaving Canada.

Furthermore, the person I was referring to is a US citizen. And, again by the very link you share, for Canadian an American citizens, not even exit data is exchanged between the two countries. So whenever a US citizen crosses the border to the United States, Canada has no way of knowing that he in fact left Canada, because the US does not forward the data to Canada.

Again, please read the link you shared. It says exactly that:
  • Currently, air departures from Canada are not tracked but they want to implement it
  • Currently, entries by land are not forwarded to the other country if a Canadian or US citizen is affected. But they want to implement that in the future.
Also, of course you should not lie in your application. But no one was talking about lying in their application. In fact, the person I was referring to shared the comprehensive explanation that he will attach to his application.

Taken from the CBSA website:

"When requesting your Travel History Report, you must indicate whether you are seeking your exit information, your entry information, or both. Exit information is limited and will only be included when specifically requested"

Maybe you did not request your exit information?

Cheers!
