When they asked you to renew the passport it was already expired?
Nope, they asked me about a month before my passport expired however like I said I renewed it maybe 3 months before expired just in case. I can't travel overseas without it anyway so I figured what the heck, might as well do it. Took a month to arrive

Hi everybody,

Need some help with trying to figure out something about sponsoring my family via the inland method, but here is my timeline as a background:

1. AOR: 17-May-16
2. Medical Requests for Family: 20-Apr-17 (Sent to CIC 04-May-17 and was successful)
3. Sponsor Approval: 25-Sep-17
4. Applicant Eligibility: 27-Sep-17

What I don't understand is the applicant eligibility letter I received last night. It reads like this:

"This refers to the Application for Permanent Residence you made under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada Class. This application includes the following dependant(s) in Canada:

XXXXXXXXXX - XX/XX/XXXX

It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. Please note that a final decision will not be made until all remaining requirements for becoming a permanent resident have been met. These requirements include medical, security and background checks for you and, if applicable, all of your family members, both in Canada and abroad, even if they are not applying to join you in Canada at this time. You cannot become a permanent resident until you and all your family members have met these requirements."

I'm assuming this is not even an approval in principle. I've checked the website and nothing has changed in the last several months. Background checks are still in progress (been like that since April). We've submitted all the police certs at the time of the application in May-2016.

Any idea how long would it would take to get to AIP and PR from here?

Many thanks for the help.

That's AIP. Congrats. DM is next! Depending on where you live, you can take that letter in to start the waiting period for health care (RAMQ / OHIP).

Impossible to answer. If your medical is already submitted and was passed, and your security and criminality screenings for you and your dependents was already completed, ECAS could show DM as early as today. From that point, you will be waiting for a landing invitation, which is generally a week from the day you get it (ish).
