How long does it takes to get the passport back after submitting it at VFS-Lahore? I'm asking this because I've to schedule the flight for my family.
Please share your experience.

my wife got her stamped passport back from lahore within 10 days, though some members have reported wait times of up to 3 weeks (worst case).

CIC started working on her part of the application on 9th March and today after 3 months we got PPR

My Wife arrived through Turkish Airline departure Islamabad ---> Istanbul ---> Toronto

In Pakistan no question asked they just looked at the paper work (COPR and Visa), no question asked at Istanbul Airport either.
When she arrived at Pearson Toronto there are 2 ways one for Permanent residents and the other for All others. There she took the all others pathway (since in the PR path they have automated machines which scans PR Card and Declaration form and after that your are done) while on the other path an officer looks at your paper work confirms your details i.e. Name spelling, DOB, Address, Dependants, Currency you are bringing etc. and if all is good signs one copy of COPR and hands it over to you. keep the copy safe its very important. (even if you loose ur PR Card or it gets stolen you need this copy of COPR to get a new one).

So my wife was carrying 600 USD and 300 CAD, and she also declare the gold she was bringing which was 25 Tola = 8 ounce pure gold and the officer said its fine.

I heard they check pictures and receipts of gold, did they ask from your wife?

naaaaa they didn't ask anything I believe the amount falls within 10000 $$ that's why.
you know it really depends on these visa officers some officers are cranky and they want to know everything and some don't care.

Anytime you cross the border, you must declare any currency or monetary instruments you have valued at Can$10,000 or more. This amount includes Canadian or foreign currency or a combination of both. Monetary instruments include, but are not limited to, stocks, bonds, bank drafts, cheques and traveller's cheques. There are no restrictions on the amount of money you can bring into or take out of Canada, nor is it illegal to do so.
