Thanks. We filed on our own. And yes, inland is landing at a CIC office only. That's where you get your COPR (and it's signed by the officer there). Outlands get a COPR in the mail, and they have to take it to a port of entry to have it signed.
haha, anyways you can always plan a trip after you land. good luck and enjoy your new status.

hey, question for you. we actually applied with "Certified Copy of Statement of Marriage (Long Form 8.5” x 14”)" and it was accepted. since it is certified, i doubt if we would be asked for certificate (the file size).

We submitted that. But not certified. A PDF of the original from the Registrar General of Ontario.
oh so you submitted an e-copy. we actually sent a photocopy of Certified Copy of Statement of Marriage (Long Form 8.5” x 14”).

i wonder why varVaravara's initial file was returned with this form.

My wife's new status. I am a born Canadian citizen.

I answered this in the previous post. We included a PDF copy of the original copy from the Registrar General of Ontario. We backed it up with the file sized one, because we didn't have it certified. They didn't ask any questions of us at all (our communications with CIC were: AOR, PCC request (in error; was supplied upfront; we gave them a new one anyway), SA, AIP, Medical re-do request; and done.

what is AIP ?

sounds a short process but takes more than a year. we are waiting on Canadian pcc (applied over two weeks ago but haven't received yet). I guess we should apply for the file size certificate too, just to avoid any further delays.

thank you for timely responsiveness @profiler

Canadian PCC???? They can just get it from RCMP direct?? Did they explicitly ask for that? If you submitted a certified copy of the marriage cert, then don't worry. We submitted both, because we didn't certify the long form.

AIP = Approval in principle. It means the PA (Principal Applicant) is eligible to apply for a PR under the class they have applied for it (they are a member of the family class in this context). Generally speaking, at this stage, they have decided they have enough proofs of the relation.

The process was mostly waiting.

aah...

by canadian pcc i meant, they have asked for pcc. and since my spouse has been in the country since turning 18, we needed to go for a police clearance.

No? I would have written them to advise them of that fact. They sent out a blanket reminder email to everyone who has a pending criminality clearance last week (or so?). Most can ignore it, unless a PCC wasn't submitted. But in the case where it's Canada, they can just query the RCMP directly. They will get the results within a day or two, via email, from RCMP direct.

I've seen this in my wife's case notes, and we didn't supply one. So I know they do it.

hmmm, not sure about that.

but i am certain when you select the country for clearance check, you get the instructions accordingly. and the instructions were to go get the clearance check done.

we did it already just waiting for the results. but it's been more than 2 weeks.

110%. There has only been one or two cases from 2015 that had to submit fingerprints to RCMP (not secure the PCC itself). CIC and RCMP communicate constantly. They certainly do not require a PCC from them. And it's their system that houses the national database, CPIC.

EDIT: From: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/canada.asp :
"
Do I need to provide a Police Certificate with my Application for Permanent Residence? No
"

Hey, thanks. They are rocking through at about 13.5 mos now. Ours was delayed a little because of an expired medical.

They are committed to completing them in 12 months for 80% of cases (the other 20% are the ones they claim are a little more problematic -- people who are not compliant, require interviews, etc). That's from december 2016, so you folks should start seeing PR's around December...

I would order the Certificate just to be on a safe side... It only took us 3-4 days to get it, but still, you don't want them to ask extra papers from you :)

I did my medical exam upfront.
Actually, we applied after Dec 15, when they announced they made the applying process easier and there is no need to do the medical yet
i was hoping to get the OWP soon and to be able to work but I guess there will be another extra 4 months for me to wait lol
Anyway, I'm glad to see they reach their targets to complete in 12 months :)

My wife's medical was done upfront and supplied with the application paperwork. Unfortunately, they are only valid for a year.

i guess right time to do the medical is shortly after SA. what say about that ?

we did not submit the medical yet. should we just wait until we hear on SA ?
