My name is Rajesh. My post graduation work permit has been issued on 12th April 2011.I left Canada on 9th of March 2011 to India due to a family emergency.I don't have a valid TRV to return to Canada. For returning to Canada on which category should I apply for TRV.It will be helpful if you could provide more information regarding the matter.

In order to return to Canada, you must be in possession of a valid passport or travel document. You also need to hold a valid study or

work permit if you are returning to study or work in Canada.

If you are a citizen of a country that requires a temporary resident visa (TRV) to travel to Canada, you will also need to be in

possession of a valid entry visa to return, unless:

•you are returning to Canada following a visit only to the United States or St-Pierre and Miquelon; and

• you return before the expiry of the period initially authorized for your entry or any extension to it, either as a visitor, student or worker.

Possession of these documents does not guarantee re-entry. All persons must establish that they meet all of the requirements of The

Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and Regulations before being authorized to enter or re-enter Canada.

Note:Citizens of the U.S. do not require passports or travel documents to enter or return to Canada. Permanent residents of the U.S. do

not require passports or travel documents if they are entering or returning to Canada from the U.S. or St. Pierre and Miquelon.

However, both must provide documentary proof of citizenship or permanent

you will have to apply for a TRV at the embasy in your country

Hi sunset,

As per my knowledge we have apply for a TRV made outside Canada (IMM 5257)
cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visa.asp

In India, you can submit your application to any VFS Canada Visa Application Centre (see this website for locations: vfs-canada.co.in/).

Along with that we need to give supporting documents :

1.copy of valid permit
2.copy of expired permit
3.job offer if u have or
3 months bank statement and past 2 year income tax returns of you or your father(i think they need atleast 10,000$ in account)
4.Accommodation/tenant document in Canada
5.Letter from college with copy of official transcript
6.2 passport size photos according to specifications.

For more details contact vfs customer care - 01206613766.

If you dont have any of the document, just include a covering letter explaining why u dont have that along with the application

Hi Sunset123,

Can you please share your visa filing experience. I recently received my PGWP and am looking to get my TRV stamped from India in July. I got the checklist from VFS website but just wondering if I need to provide any additional documentation.

Hi Canstudy,

You should submit the following:

1) Copy of your PGWP
2) APPLICATION- Make sure to give an address in Canada where you will be staying
3) Bank statement in Canada and India showing that you have enough funds to cover your expenses there
4) A letter stating as to why you are in India and why you would like to go back

Do you have a job or are you looking for one?

Let me know if you have any further questions.
