Hello,

I'm in a pickle and could do with some help/advise.
I've in Canada on a 2 year WHP visa currently which is about to expire and I've been looking to extend by applying for the YPP visa as some of my friends have done.
I've applied twice and been refused both times, the response I get back from the officers:

As you have previously participated in the IEC program in 2013 under WHP for a period
of 24 months, you may only apply for a 12 month ICP. YPP Application is therefore
refused. Based on the final decision of your application, a refund has been requested on
your behalf.

I dont understand why I'm being refused the visa when 4 of my friends all have applied and gotten it no problems. I'm not sure what the "ICP" is at all and found nothing about it online. I'm really stuck here so if anyone could help I would really appreciate it.

You have not said which country IEC you participated under.

ICP is the code for the coop program but without knowing what the paricipation rules are for your country which you have not mentioned difficult to comment further http://www.ci.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/temp/work/opinion/experience/index.asp

Any chance you're from Australia? If so, you've been correctly refused. Your only option is to apply for a 12 month co-op (if you meet the requirements for this program).

See this link for a very good summary of the rules per country:

Thanks for getting back to me folks.

So I'm in Canada on the IEC 2 working holiday visa (Ireland). From the information in the links you provided it would appear that I'm not entitled to apply for the YPP visa. It's super strange as my friends who literally did the exact same as me, we applied for the 2 year WHP at the same time and got it at the same time. The only difference is that they arrived in Canada 10 months before me. 5 of my friends have done the same and all gotten approved for the YPP following the WHV.

You're definitely not entitled to the YPP - not sure why your friend was approved. You can apply under co-op if you qualify.
