Hi! How are you? I need your help. I received an email from CIC and requesting a written explanation regarding my relationship with the mother of my son. Has anyone made this letter? What should be the content to this letter? Thank you

None of us know your circumstances, you need to tell them whatever you think is relevant. Is there some red flag involved here? Like, how you met, why you broke up, how the current relationship is etc.

I had a son with my previous relationship and now I am now married with my partner for almost 11 years. my relationship with my son's mother is good and we are friends. we have no problem at all in term of communication and custody with our child. I fully support my son financially and everything he needs. I don't
Think there is a red flag because we were not married and actually signed a consent that she is allowing our son to join me in Canada. Do I need to write from the beginning until our relationship ended?

I think what they are asking for is proof of the relationship with you and the mother is finalized. In married couples they want divorce papers and common law a declaration. Hope that sends you in the right direction.

Can you cite what kind of proof? We're not married.

Try the search function but I believe in your guide it will tell you about a declaration for the termination of a common law marriage. I understand you do not believe you were common law but perhaps CIC wants to make sure you do not have two wives. Its all I can think they are asking for.
Another thought without seeing the letter is that they just want a letter from you explaining your relationship with your childs mother. Mostly that you are not common law. Personally if I could I would still look into whether you need the more formal letter of termination.
