Is it acceptable to write clarifying comments on a photocopy, as long the comments aren't written on the part that is copied? I'm copying passport pages that show name change; below the photocopy, but on the same page, I have comments indicating what they're seeing. Is this acceptable, or is it better to write the explanations on a separate page?

thanks

I would suggest you to write it on a new A4 sheet. In my case I did the same. For each section e.g. education, work etc I had a covering letter which explained what documents I was submitting and what is the information enclosed. Just make it precise, I think the VO would appreciate the fact that applicant has taken the time to explain the diff docs submitted and makes the VO's life easier too. This is my personal suggestion.
Hope this helps!
