My partner and I are 19 and 20 years old respectively. We’ve been together for a little over a year and with how uncertain the possibility of immigration law changes are, we figured we want to get married sooner and have me apply to be a permanent resident via spousal sponsorship to ensure we won’t get separated. I feel like this is a stupid question to ask considering that’s quite literally the entire point of spousal sponsorship grounds, but would IRCC flag our application for getting married far younger than usual? I may just be paranoid, and obviously I have documentation of us living together and all our dates we’ve been on (I love taking pictures of him hehe), but I just don’t want there to be any doubts about our relationship or circumstances and after hearing so much in the news I’m just getting a little bit worried. For extra context I’m currently here on a study permit that expires in 2027, I currently have a part time job in retail and haven’t worked over the allowed 24 hours/wk ever, pretty decent record with school getting Bs/B+s on average, and we live in Ontario. Somebody please reassure me there’s nothing to worry about and/or maybe some tips for the interview process??

Shouldn’t be an issue as long as you can show your spouse can support you financially. In this case you can also show your savings and your PT work as additional family funds. If you want to get married then get married but given your study permit ends in 2027 and you may also qualify for PGWP there is really no rush. You often change a lot as person between the ages of 19/20 to 25+ years. Spousal and dependent children sponsorship is extremely unlikely to change.
