working visa question

Hello,

I'm going to Canada with my partner in September. He will be granted a working visa and I could apply for a working visa through him as well.

My question is- can I apply for a working visa without having a specific work in mind and then once I come to Canada, search for work there?

There is no such thing as "work/working visa"... please clarify if you are referring to "TRV (category worker)" or "work permit".

I'm referring to work permit.

(As a side note, my partner is getting a post doc position and is applying for work permit.)
