Please let me know how many hours can one work on campus per week?
Is some kinda permit required ? cz wat i knw is that study permit is in fact my on campus work permit .
Also , is SIN required for on campus jobs too? I ask this cz i was told by my department office tht I would need it .

please enlighten
regards

You can work up to 24 hours a week on campus during your studies and up to 40 hours during scheduled breaks. You need SIN to be able to work on campus. Once you secure a job, you will need to apply for your SIN number. In order to get your SIN you will need to bring your study permit, your employer-employee contract and your timetable to a Service Canada location. You will be issued a SIN number on the same day, a SIN card will be mailed to you within a couple of weeks, but you can start working as soon as you have your number.

If approved for a work permit, students will be entitled to work up to 20 hours a week during the regular academic year, as long as they are registered as full-time students; and full-time during scheduled breaks (e.g., winter or summer holidays, reading week).

Although there is no legislation or policy preventing students from working 20 hours a week on campus and 20 hours a week off-campus, DIRs should discourage students from working more than 20 hours a week, reminding them that they must study full-time and maintain satisfactory academic standing in order to remain eligible for the program.

Some intensive programs may not have scheduled breaks or may have a break specifically for that program. Students participating in such programs would, therefore, be limited to working a maximum of 20 hours a week during the entire period.

Hi,

There is no limitation of hours working on campus.
But definitely college won't give you so many hours.
You just need to take the original employment letter to Service Canada.
They will issue you Temporary SIN to work ON campus.
But On campus jobs are not easily available.

Good Luck.

I was looking for maximum hours allowed to work on campus and I haven't found that information on CIC website. It might be that each institution has its own limits. For example, Algonquin college allows international students to work up to 24 hours per week during their studies. Other college/university may have a lower number of hours allowed for work. The only way to find out is on your college/university website, search for it and if you can't find it there, call/email to your international students center or ask them in person.

Could someone tell me how many days does it take for the processing of EVN ?

I applied on 16th June, still haven't got it.

Are you sure you didn't get it? It should be in your MyCIC account, you may have thought it was a confirmation letter because it starts like "you requested EVN..." but if you read further there is a number in that message. That number is your EVN and you have to use it in the application for a work permit. If you absolutely didn't get any messages in your MyCIC then I suggest you call your college (international students department). In my opinion you have waited too long.

Nah, didn't get anything. Thanks for the reply tho. I'll contact the international students department.

So should I contact the international students department or CIC helpline ?

If your EVN application went through successfully, you first want to know if your college received it and then if they didn't, try to apply for it again. CIC helpline is good for things like when you have a technical problem with myCIC or you have a question regarding your online application for work permit, study permit, etc. In your case, I would try to contact the college first.

alright, thanks again :D

Obviously college won't give you full-time job.
I work in Centennial College. And they ask me to do more shifts.
But in average they give 22 hrs per week.
