I am Canadian, my common law partner is Australian, we live in the UK and have applied for outland sponsorship through the London office (our application has however been kept in Ottawa). Our application was received in Mississauga on Sept 2nd 2014 and transferred to Ottawa once sponsorship approval was given on Oct 9th 2014. The processing times seem to have shot up recently and we are unsure that we will be approved by the time my partner's UK working visa is up in September 2015.

Does any one know if it is possible for him to apply for a working holiday visa to enter Canada even though he has a PR outland application in process. He meets all the requirements. I realize that once PR was given at a later date he would have to leave and reenter to activate it. I'm just a bit worried that the purpose of the working holiday visa is temporary 'holiday/work' purposes but that immigration might deny it for him as he clearly intends to settle in Canada (if PR is eventually given).

Has anyone had any success with this situation?

this is not a problem at all. as long as he's approved, he can go to canada on the working holiday visa while his PR application is processing. 1 thing has nothing to do with the other, and there are many people who do this. He's not going to be denied entry unless CBSA suspects illegal activity (ie: working withOUT a visa). Having a valid work visa is not usually a reason for suspicion.
