Hello, we're currently applying for common law sponsorship. What I'm wondering is is if we can also apply for a working holiday visa or something along those lines while we wait the seven months for approval? We're currently in England and want to go back to Canada within the next few months, and would like for my partner to work? Thanks for any info!

Yes, if your partner qualifies for the working holiday program, it is a good idea to apply. You should apply as soon as possible because there is only a certain number of visas granted and once they are out, they don't issue them again until the start of next year. With a working holiday visa, if you get it this year, your partner has to enter some time this year and after activating it will get a 12 month work permit.

Thanks for the info! We are yet to send off the permanent residency application from here in England. Which form will we need to fill in? The one for applying from outside of Canada or from inside? If he gets the 12 month work visa he will be moving to Canada shortly after sending the permanent residency application.

If you are from the UK, you are better off doing the forms for outside Canada because it is way faster. You are allowed to apply outside Canada whether you are in Canada or not.
