Working for an online European business as a visitor?

I'm currently living in Canada and applying for permanent residence (sponsored by my Canadian wife) and don't have the right to work in Canada yet, so I'm trying to figure out all my options for making money without a Canadian work permit.

Would it be legal for someone in my position to work online for a European business (based in my home country) while staying in Canada as a visitor?

Yes - it's fine provided that business has no Canadian customers and no customers in Canada.
